Are you ready to make an impact? This position is independent contributor responsible for GAAP and Statutory financial reporting and analysis in the Retirement Income Solutions segment to support segment and corporate financial reporting requirements. You will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial results, providing valuable insights, and collaborating with various departments to drive success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Product Controller for the Structured Settlements/Institutional Income Annuities.
  • Report GAAP and Statutory monthly/quarterly financial results, including income statements, balance sheets, and earnings by source, in a timely and accurate manner to support U.S. Business Controllers and Corporate financial reporting requirements.
  • Analyze financial results, including comparisons to prior periods and projections.
  • Provide data and analysis to CFO/Business and other business partners as needed to support projections, business plans, actuals, etc.
  • Support the completion of the RIS QFS/10Q
  • Ensure adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting
  • Support the MD&A process for MLINC and MLICC by creating support files as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with other units, including Valuations, Product Management, Internal and External Auditing, to provide accurate and timely data and analysis.
  • Participate or lead special projects and initiatives


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or an applicable field of expertise.
  • 6+ years of experience in accounting (preferably in Insurance Company), Finance, or an applicable field of expertise.
  • Ability to work independently on projects from start to finish with a sense of urgency behind all tasks.
  • Strong Excel skills with Pivots and Vlookups.
  • General Ledger functional knowledge and proficiency.
  • Ability to analyze facts and develop logical conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management and prioritization.
  • Ability to work within tight time constraints and multiple priorities

Preferred:
  • CPA/MBA or working towards it is a plus.
  • Proficient in US GAAP and STAT.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and business acumen, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Essbase, and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages (Excel and Word).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, detail-oriented and dedicated.
