sonnen seeks to hire a compliance engineer who will collaborate on the development and certification of Energy Storage and power conversion systems. Based in our Atlanta Innovation Hub, an ideal candidate for this position is someone who excited to collaborate with a diverse and dedicated team, a skilled individual with knowledge in the regulatory compliance of electrical products and power conversion systems.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent research and analysis of current and evolving regulatory standards for Battery Energy Storage Systems and Power Conversion Systems
- Act as expert for business unit, product management and development teams for new and existing products
- Identify and interpret regulatory requirements for product development projects
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to develop product design specifications
- Participate in product design reviews and safety risk analysis
- Develop detailed test plans and procedures for regulatory tests including EMC and Safety Standards
- Plan and execute internal pre-compliance testing on product prototypes and samples
- Responsible for working with Nationally Recognized Test Laboratories (NRTLs) to certify new products and maintain current products. Work with project team to organize project documentation for submittal.
- Support factory and source locations to develop and implement follow-up inspection and audit requirements to comply with safety certifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or relevant field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product compliance and working with certifying bodies
- Demonstrated experience with U.S, Canadian and other international product safety standards such as UL 9540, UL 1741, IEEE 1547.1, UL 1699B, CSA C22.2 No. 107.1, UL 1973, UL 1008, CSA C22.2 No. 14, UL 50/50E, UL 1778, NFPA 70 and EN60730
- Experience in constructional design review, FMEA, risk analysis, software evaluation and certification testing
- Good understanding of the regulatory standards for electromagnetic compatibility compliance requirements.
- Experience in the operation of testing equipment such as Power analyzers, scopes, signal acquisition devices, data loggers, di-electric testers.
- Experience in data analysis and presentation using Microsoft Office applications or laboratory software packages
- Experience with high voltage systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Ability to travel - about 15% of the time
