What you will do:

The Field Project Manager is part of our Johnson Controls. This role leads medium to large projects in North America. We seek a seasoned technical Project Manager to handle complex traffic counting projects. Under general direction, you will be responsible for the profitable execution of assigned projects. Collaborating with Customers, Sales and CSMs. While reporting to the North American Implementation Manager, you will provide support activities early in the order review and development process, offering input on strategy, vendor/partner selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, risk assessment, etc. Ensure assigned projects are completed accurately, on time, billed, within budget, and within the scope of the contract. Maintain positive cash flow and actively pursue selling change orders while ensuring compliance with all legal requirements and adherence to our safety standards. Follow consistent project management procedures and balance customer satisfaction with project financial results.

How you will do it:
  • Act as the primary leader for execution teams on assigned projects. Develop project schedules and execute according to plan.
  • Evaluate the contractual scope of work and the impact of client issued bulletins, field directives, and/or scheduling changes. Pursue additional work through change orders, perform cost estimates, prepare proposals, and negotiate final settlement prices and customer acceptance.
  • Manage costs, billings, and collections. Complete project billings accurately and timely to the client while maintaining profitability goals and positive cash flow.
  • Review and interpret contract Terms and Conditions.
  • Analyze financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address potential issues. Communicate project progress, issues, and financial status to management as required using Microsoft Project.
  • Manage risks and establish project recovery plans when needed. Resolve disputes with minimal escalation.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontracts.
  • Ensure project document controls comply with contract requirements and JCI standards.
  • Oversee project construction for compliance with specifications, local codes, and installation techniques as needed.
  • Manage the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials for assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors. Attend job progress meetings and ensure subcontractors understand project expectations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate team training requirements as needed.
  • Provide operational metrics reporting and team installation projections to support the NA Implementation Manager.
  • Oversee new product migration and collaborate with the AOT team for documenting processes while ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Act as SME for all Remedy related activities while supporting ROW as needed.
  • Knowledge of NFPA.
  • Manage assigned "run rate" NSOs as needed.


What we look for:
  • BA/BS degree, or an associate's degree with equivalent work-related experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct project management experience with Sprinkler and Fire.
  • PMP Certification preferred or expectation that PMP certification will be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficient in Project Management software and financial accounting systems.
  • Strong Personal Computer skills, particularly in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project), Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environment. Remedy experience is a plus.
  • Travel may be required on project assignment; projects may exist outside of assigned geography.
  • Able to manage projects of higher complexity involving multiple subcontractors and scopes of work.
  • Experience in dealing with a diverse range of simultaneous challenges across various disciplines.


HIRING SALARY RANGE: $ 79,300- 118,900 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
