General Adult Psychiatrist

Community Addiction & Mental Health Clinic at Sunridge Mall, Northeast Calgary

The Community Addiction & Mental Health Clinic at Sunridge Mall, Northeast Calgary is seeking a General Adult Psychiatrist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team. Our clinic provides psychiatric assessment, consultation, and follow-up for moderately to severely mentally ill patients from across the city. We also support patients transitioning from the Peter Lougheed Hospital inpatient units and day programs. Most patients are voluntary, though we also manage individuals under Community Treatment Orders (CTOs) and collaborate with specialized programs such as CET, PACT, and ACT.

Recently, our clinic merged with a program focused on mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, and specialized group therapies. We now offer DBT and ADHD groups, alongside various other individual and group therapy options. Our team includes therapists trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for PTSD, and we have a Perinatal Clinic integrated into our program. While we accommodate diverse areas of psychiatric interest, candidates should be open to managing general adult referrals.

Psychiatrists in our clinic work within a collaborative team environment, where most patients are co-managed with therapists and case managers who provide ongoing support between psychiatrist visits. Some cases are also managed through the Physician-Only Stream when appropriate. Our clinic follows the Recovery Model, emphasizing movement toward recovery-based goals and seamless transitions to community partners, such as general practitioners and local mental health services. We have recently developed a Supported Transition Program to enhance continuity of care for stabilized clients.

Our multidisciplinary team includes mental health clinicians (social workers, nurses, psychologists), occupational therapists, outreach workers, and independent living skills therapists. We offer access to psychological assessments and psychosocial rehabilitation services for our clients.

We are currently looking for psychiatrists to provide individual assessments and follow-up care, primarily within a co-managed model alongside case managers and therapists. Opportunities to co-lead therapy groups (DBT, CBT, CBSST, and skills-based programs) are also available for those interested. This role is ideal for a psychiatrist with broad clinical interests who thrives in a team-based setting. If you are passionate about providing comprehensive, recovery-oriented psychiatric care, we encourage you to apply.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Must read, write, and speak English.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.

Only suitable candidates will be contacted for an interview.
