Red Arch Solutions is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Ft. Meade, Maryland to support the development of a high-performance computing system serving diverse users and stakeholders. This role involves advising leadership and team members on Infrastructure as Code practices, contributing to technical planning, and helping define architectural vision while ensuring alignment with agile methodologies. The ideal candidate will also lead efforts in system documentation, backlog refinement, and coordination across product, release, and agile teams to enable continuous delivery and system evolution.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to integrate, install, configure, upgrade, compile, and support COTS/GOTS software
- Assisting with leading a product-development effort to create/integrate a scalable security solution with fine grained access control for a high-performance computing system used by different user types, stakeholders, and vendor support.
- Advise the Product Owner, leadership, and Team members on development, maintenance, and enhancement of complex and diverse Infrastructure as Code for large scale systems.
- Create and iteratively refine system diagrams, design documentation, and implementation documentation with Product Owners, leadership, and team members.
- Assist in breaking down technical work into stories, task, or tickets.
- Guides the creation of work items for the team backlog.
- Plans, defines, and creates detailed designs of the products.
- Defines and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision to the team.
- Collaborates with Release Architects and other Product Architects to analyze technical trade-offs and define non-functional requirements.
- Validate technology assumptions.
- Evaluate implementation strategies.
- Collaborate with Product Owner and SCRUM Coach in preparation for SAFe/Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Reviews, Inspect and Adapt, and Program Increment planning events.
- Coordinate with Product Owner to take on work items from the backlog.
Basic Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or GED plus fourteen (14) years of general system engineering experience.
OR
A Bachelor's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus ten (10) years of systems engineering experience.
OR
A Master's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years of systems engineering experience.
OR
A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years of systems engineering experience. - Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Position Required Skills:
- Leadership skills and/or experience with leading an effort.
- Government or industry security practices, policies, and implementation such as STE/STN.
- Linux security architecture.
- Experience with security concepts pertaining to one or more of; identity and access management (IAM), access control, secrets management; and/or any security products related to these concepts.
- Can adapt to and adhere to project-specific Ansible coding standards.
- Communicative, collaborative, and organized.
- Familiar with and able to perform full software-development lifecycle support with version control tools (Git, Git Lab).
- Works independently, as well as with a team, to ensure that all components are functioning properly.
- Will stay abreast of latest industry trends in both open source and commercial metrics and monitoring solutions. Support determination of if-and-when to incorporate them into an IaC solution.
- Willing to and able to learn new tools and protocols.
Position Desired Skills:
- Cloud security.
- Experience with Red Hat IDM, Keycloak, HashiCorp Vault, Delinea/Centrify.
- Identity and Access Management (IAM).
- Attribute-based Access Control (ABAC).
- Role-based Access Control (RBAC).
- Host-based Access Control (HBAC.
- Single Sign On (SSO), OpenID Connect (OIDC).
- Infrastructure automation technology (i.e. Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, etc).
- Programming in Ansible.
- Scripting or programming in Bash or Python.
- Container orchestration technologies, such as Rancher Kubernetes Engine 2 (RKE2).
- DevSecOps best practices, system administration best practices, infrastructure networks (DNS, DHCP, PXE, NTP, etc).
- Build-test-release CI/CD pipelines and processes.
