Position Overview

The Vice President, Operations ("Executive") provides leadership to all manufacturing aspects of Highwater Marine business and corporate activities. Reporting directly to the Vice President, General Manager, the Executive leads overall manufacturing strategic and tactical development utilizing lean production and continuous improvement techniques. Works with leaders from teams across the company to execute on the product roadmap. Is expected to hire and develop personnel to help ensure the efficient operation of all aspects of the manufacturing function. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Executive demonstrates teamwork and commitment to the success of Highwater Marine a member of Polaris Marine Group. The position reports to the VP,GM.

Essential Job Functions
  • Recognizes the importance of safety and, in conjunction with appropriate HSE personnel, designs, implements and emphasizes safety programs and policies in order to promote a safe workplace
  • Delivers results meeting financial and operational objectives of cost, inventory, delivery, safety and quality across the manufacturing platform
  • Direct the Company's manufacturing activities to ensure maximum effectiveness is obtained for the production of quality products within specified time and budgetary guidelines
  • Direct Logistics Department and personal
  • Direct Maintenance Department, PM schedule and campus integrity
  • Accountable to ensure products meet or exceed quality standards and required delivery schedules are met
  • Provide leadership in continuous improvement activities and successfully enable scalability to achieve our goals of meeting quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Provides strong and effective leadership by way of ongoing performance coaching and career development for the manufacturing team
  • Sets clear goals for manufacturing team and holds employees accountable for deliverables
  • Creates a culture that provides continuous feedback, support and empowerment
  • Develop and manage budgeting and budget execution with a focus on product costs and margins
  • Direct all production control, production process development, quality systems, and shipping /receiving activities
  • With the rest of the senior leadership team, continuously build an intimate knowledge of the Company's business, customers, profit drivers and the implications of the external competitive markets and environmental factors that may affect strategy and operating results
  • Take an active role in developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive product costing system
  • In conjunction with the senior leadership team, identify, maintain and report on daily, weekly, monthly and annual metrics that accurately measure the Company's operating performance versus stated objectives. Identify areas for improvement and work with functional leaders to develop improvement initiatives.


Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or related operations discipline desirable
  • 7-10+ years in progressively responsible operational/manufacturing leadership roles.
  • Preference for production line experience with meaningful levels of product variability and complexity
  • Experience in materials management, from planning through purchasing, and negotiation and administration of multi-million dollar procurement agreements
  • Ability to lead, influence, negotiate and gain commitment at all organizational levels
  • Experience in developing safety and health programs compliant with OSHA requirements


Other Skills/Abilities
  • Personal computer proficiency and a strong working knowledge of Excel are required
