Description:

The Procurement Category Manager will lead the procurement activities of assigned categories within a broader centralized Procurement Services department. The Procurement Category Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders across JM Family to understand business needs, develop a strategy that is dynamic and responds to market trends, while driving cost savings and managing risk. The Procurement Category Manager is a working manager who supervises a team of buyers, coordinates the distribution of requisitions, and ensures quality controls while participating in RFX events, drafts and negotiates contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement Management:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive, category-based procurement strategies for a range of indirect spend areas.
  • Align category strategies with overall customer objectives and goals.
  • Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and provide solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Develop trust-based relationships with key stakeholders as well as seek new internal customer relationships.

Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure high-quality service and competitive pricing.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to optimize value for the company.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions as needed.

Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing category team.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to team members.

Process Improvement and Compliance:
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement activities.

Financial Management:
  • Track and report on cost savings and value delivered through procurement initiatives.
  • Ensure financial accountability and transparency in all procurement activities.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful procurement strategies.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, tools and technology, and emerging trends in procurement.
  • Experience with SAP/Ariba preferred.
  • CPSM certification preferred.
