JOB SUMMARY
We're looking for a seasoned Product Owner to join our growing Data Products team at ONEOK. The ideal candidate will guide product development from conception to launch, collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable requirements. As the first Product Owner on our Data Products Team, you will have a unique opportunity to shape and establish the processes and frameworks that will define the role of product owners in our team for years to come.

This position is based in Tulsa with a hybrid schedule, working in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and working from home on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Job Profile Summary

This position will be a key contributor within a dynamic, highly motivated team focused on ushering in a new generation of industry-leading digital solutions to position the company as the midstream operator of choice. The Product Owner will have the opportunity to be a part of the full product life cycle of highly complex products and offerings to ensure various aspects of the refined products business are serving the current and future needs of the company's customers, as well as directly impact the bottom line of the company. The Product Owner will be independently motivated and deliberately collaborative. In addition, the Product Owner will have extensive analytical skills to solve business problems utilizing technology, serve as a change agent for the organization, and be willing to learn as needed to solve real-world problems continuously.

Consistent use and/or application of advanced principles/theories/concepts/techniques in area of expertise. Often has unique knowledge in the area of specialty plus solid knowledge of other related fields. Organizes, examines, and analyzes information to provide resolution to a diverse range of complex problems/issues where analysis requires evaluation of variable factors and solutions often require creativity and a broad knowledge base to provide resolutions. Work is completed without considerable direction and acts independently to determine methods/procedures to obtain results. Generally, only special assignments may be reviewed to ensure objectives have been met. Failure to obtain results or erroneous judgement/recommendations may result in the inability to reach crucial department/organizational goals and may have serious prolonged effects or impacts.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Liaison/Collaboration:
    • Works with internal stakeholders and external customers to analyze the needs and align product roadmap to strategic goals.
    • Works closely with Product Management and senior management in order to create a product that fits the company portfolio.
    • Works with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders, including analytics, design/user experience, and IT.
    • Works closely with Product Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI
    • Collaborates with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements
    • Works with business partners to elicit high-level requirements and capture business needs
    • Understands the customer journey and defines user requirements/use cases/user stories.
    • Works with the team to agree on accepted story completion.
    • Assists the Product Development team to meet the objectives of each sprint.
    • Participates in daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement Meetings, Sprint Planning Meetings, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
    • Ensures that the team always has an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on.
  • Product Strategy:
    • Partners with stakeholders and customers across the organization to inform the product vision, strategy, features, and prioritization.
    • Engages with business partners and influences project decisions; assesses the risks of various solutions and prioritizes competing business demands.
    • Acts as an ambassador for the product internally and externally and as the primary contact for queries related to the product.
    • Develops and defines backlog items (epics/features/user stories) that guide the Agile software development team.
    • Assesses value, develops cases, and prioritizes stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy
  • Product Development:
    • Develops appropriately detailed specifications for the product features so they are clearly understood by the development teams.
    • Translates product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
    • Manages testing library and all user acceptance testing needs
    • Works in an Agile environment and continuously reviews the business needs, refines priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks.
    • Stays up-to-date with current technologies and technical developments.
    • Solves product-related problems, makes decisions, and completes trade-off analysis to stay on track toward business deliverable commitments.


Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree in Business Admin, Marketing, Information Systems, Product Design, or related field highly


Work Experience
  • Previous experience working in a Product Line operational model preferred
  • Previous experience in Agile Scrum roles such as Product Owner or Scrum Master preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of: software development or web technologies.
  • Ability to: have strong partnering, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • Skills in: various technologies including Atlassian Suite, Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Dynamics, Figma, and/or InVision.
  • Knowledge of: the Oil & Gas Industry, especially the Refined Products Segment
  • Ability to: organize and/or analyze information and identify solutions from a range of alternatives
  • Ability to: deal with complex issues that require substantial analysis or independent judgment
  • Ability to: deal with highly complex and/or sensitive issues where no existing policies or precedents apply


Licenses and Certifications
  • One or more industry-recognized certifications such as AIPMM Certifications, PMI Certifications, SAFe Certifications, and Scrum Alliance Certifications preferred

Expected Salary Range
$96,000.00 - $144,000.00
