Job Description
The Physical Plant Director is responsible for operations of Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The college education facilities include buildings of 200,000 square feet and 40 acres of grounds care, housing units and walkways. This position provides supervision for Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College facilities, facilities staff, and student workers. This position exists to direct and develop policies for the physical plant and non-instructional operations of the college. The Director has the authority to make the human resources and budget decisions necessary for those operations and facilities and serves as the lead facilities advisor to the President of the college.

$38.96 - $56.10 hourly; $81,348 - $117,137 annually

The Physical Plant Director will:
- Represent the facilities department and college as project manager on building construction and remodeling projects
- Work directly with faculty, staff, and students to coordinate the operational needs of the facility
- Direct operation, maintenance, and repair of the college facilities and equipment
- Work closely with MN State facilities leaders and attend regular meetings
Salary Range:
$38.96 - $56.10 hourly; $81,348 - $117,137 annually
Minimum Qualifications
- Four years of physical plant experience consulting with senior leadership to support the effective maintenance and management of the physical plant and surrounding areas
- Strong leadership skills, including the understanding of staff development, supervision, and team building
- General construction knowledge sufficient to direct new construction, remodel or repair work. This includes knowledge of state and local building codes and State and Federal OSHA regulations sufficient to ensure compliance by the agency.
- Knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems sufficient to ensure ongoing repair and maintenance and prompt and acceptable resolution to equipment breakdown are in compliance with local and state code
- Electrical systems knowledge to ensure ongoing repair and maintenance and prompt resolution to equipment breakdown/malfunction are in compliance with local and state codes
- Experience in budgeting and purchasing processes to develop and monitor department and project budget
- Must possess a valid Second-Class C boilers license
Preferred Qualification
- Familiarity with bargaining unit contracts
- Experience overseeing multiple contractors and meeting deadlines
- Ability to plan and carry out work assignments, including making mechanical repairs and operating maintenance equipment
- Ability to work with specialized software required for the position, as well as programs used in the MinnState system
- Ability to work well within a team and individually
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
