Job Overview

The Coordinator of Behavior Support focuses is responsible for providing on-going support and technical assistance to schools, leaders, and elementary Behavior Resource Teachers with a focus on preventing and addressing challenging behaviors through proactive strategies. The Behavior Support Coordinator designs and delivers high quality professional learning at both the school and division levels, leads the school division in coordinating the implementation and scaling of tiered levels of behavioral support, and analyzes data for program evaluation. The Coordinator of Behavior Support will lead and support the elementary Behavior Resource Teachers in supporting classroom teachers and providing direct intervention support to general education students.

This position is assigned to the Department of Student Services - Office of Diagnostic and Prevention Services as a member of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) team.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supervises, evaluates, and provides support to the behavior resource teachers.
  • Provides on-going professional learning and support to behavior resource teachers, school leaders, and school staff in the areas of PBIS implementation, student behavioral interventions, and de-escalation strategies.
  • Provides oversight for required data collection activities, organizes, and analyzes data to support program implementation and intervention delivery for students.
  • Oversees the documentation and implementation of MTSS student behavior intervention plans.
  • Collaborates with other offices and departments to align and participate in professional learning, promote best practices for student engagement to maximize positive behaviors, and support and guide school-based teams to ensure the safety of students and staff.
  • Provides direct support to schools through coordinated visits, attendance at team meetings, etc.
  • Collects and analyzes division-level data to identify trends in the area of discipline, school climate, and intervention.
  • Maintains and updates databases (Qlik, websites) and develops reports.


Qualifications

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

Education

Master's degree

Experience

Five years of experience in education, counseling, social work, or related field

Licenses and Certifications
  • Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Pupil Personnel Services License or Virginia Postgraduate Professional License; endorsement in Administration and Supervision PreK-12 preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven expertise in delivering professional learning sessions in several formats
  • Proven expertise in data systems, analysis, interpretation, and application for school leaders
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral strategies and interventions for diverse learners

Salary Range: $104,795 - $168,139
