YOUR IMPACT :

The Global Security Team at OpenText is focused on protecting our people, property, and operations worldwide. As part of the newly established Protective Services program, the Sr. Security Specialist/Analyst will support the development and execution of integrated, risk-based strategies across Employee and Executive Protection, Travel Risk Management, Corporate Event Security, and Threat Assessment and Investigation.

Based in Waterloo, Ontario, and reporting to the Sr. Director of Global Security - Protective Services, this role is key to advancing a proactive, intelligence-led approach to personnel security.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS :

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the implementation and execution of employee and executive protection, travel risk management, and global event security programs by applying industry best practices, collaborating with global stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with global security objectives.
  • Assisting with policies, procedures, and risk methodologies for all protective security programs.
  • Developing tools and methodologies to assess, mitigate, and monitor global risks to OpenText executives and business travellers.
  • Conducting risk assessments for corporate travel and integrating findings into actionable travel recommendations.
  • Delivering accurate and timely action plans for security and safety concerns related to corporate events globally.
  • Providing timely and accurate reports, briefings, and recommendations regarding geo-political risks, including those related to terrorism, civil unrest, natural disasters, and criminal activity.
  • Coordinating with local, national, and international security agencies to mitigate risks during travel and event planning.
  • Utilizing technology and threat management platforms to monitor and assess risks in real time.
  • Assisting in the creation and delivery of security awareness programs and training focused on travel safety and risk mitigation.
  • Creating security content, including presentations, newsletters, and online resources, to enhance awareness for programs under our remit.
  • Partnering with internal teams to develop and maintain effective security policies and training materials.
  • Researching and recommending process improvements to enhance program efficiency.
  • Providing project management support for security initiatives and monitoring their implementation.
  • Preparing presentations and reports for senior leadership.
  • Supporting financial reporting activities, including budget tracking, vendor sourcing, and procurement processes.
  • Capturing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and security metrics for planning, forecasting, and reporting.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED :

  • A service-oriented, customer-driven approach is highly regarded.
  • Education in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of operational security experience in a corporate environment or a comparable role, with direct involvement in employee and executive protection, travel risk management, and event security programs-ideally with international scope and frequent engagement with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate within a fast-paced global organization and support high-profile risk mitigation programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of personnel security threat and risk management methodologies.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating event security initiatives, including participation in global events.
  • Familiarity with open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools and social media analysis.
  • An interest in following geopolitical and security trends in key regions (Americas, EMEA, APAC).
  • Support for Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs) and daily monitoring of high-risk countries for security threats.
  • Strong ability to develop and maintain security processes, procedures, and training programs.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, with strong business acumen and vendor management experience.
  • Strong understanding of risk principles and their application to security and safety.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including responding to emergencies and incidents across different time zones.
  • Experience working in a global environment and with diverse cultures.
  • Ability to travel internationally in support of program deliverables
