Purpose:
The Senior Manager, Investments & Transactions will work closely with UPMC Enterprises management on the evaluation, selection, structuring and execution of investment transactions as well as supporting UPMC Enterprises management in their oversight of UPMC Enterprises' portfolio companies.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze complex financial data and extract and define relevant information; interpret data for the purpose of evaluating past financial performance and forecasting future financial performance.
  • Assist in evaluating pre-revenue and early-stage companies, their markets, their competition, risk factors, their fit within UPMC's strategy, in attempt to mitigate risk and maximize return within a high failure rate environment.
  • Construct dynamic financial models to analyze potential strategic transactions, understand the core business assumptions driving the model to perform appropriate risk and sensitivity analysis.
  • Coordinate the due diligence process for potential investments, including soliciting input from subject matter experts as needed, compiling and tracking due diligence documents.
  • Work effectively within the deal team supporting the entire transaction process from sourcing to closing.
  • Summarize key transaction terms, diligence findings and recommendations.
  • Contribute to investment proposals and other Board of Director and Executive management reports.
  • Interact daily with key leadership personnel in a collaborative manner.
  • Value potential and existing portfolio companies, including comparisons to market data when available.
  • Keep informed of market trends and analyze the effect of these trends on UPMC Enterprises' current and potential portfolio companies.
  • Assists in developing reference materials, studies and templates to inform UPMC on the investment process.
  • Provide investment and transaction guidance, leadership support, and mentorship to Managers, Associates, and Analysts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or related field required.
  • 8+ years' experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development or related field required.
  • Healthcare experience and MBA strongly preferred.
  • Strong intellect with particular emphasis on transactional finance, analytics, mathematics, and economics.
  • Capable working under executive scrutiny and resilient in pressured working environment.
  • Broad-mindedness, with professional restraint against drawing premature conclusions.
  • Having a high energy, and a positive attitude that exudes power and empathy.
  • Ability to articulate views in a clear and concise manner (written and verbal).
