Job Summary: The Startup Instrumentation Lead will supervise personnel and activities within the project Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) scope. They will ensure I&C CSU scope is completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all project safety, quality and design standards. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge in testing, commissioning and operation of large plant I&C systems such as DCS, ICSS, SIS, FGS and ESD systems. Proficiency with specialized equipment supplier compressor/electrical motor control system applications utilized within LNG plant design is required.
Major Responsibilities:
Reviews Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams to systemize project I&C scope
Reviews and/or completes all I&C CSU deliverables including cause and effect procedures, I&C instructions, complex loop, alarm summary, ESD and trip testing
Reviews and provides I&C CSU input on project schedules for proper coordination through all phases
Reviews and provides I&C CSU input on project I&C engineering and supplier design/documentation
Provides I&C CSU input to other groups including Project Management, Engineering, Construction, etc.
Works with Contracts group to ensure proper onsite supplier and subcontractor support
Assists in the population of the project System Completions Database (I&C scope only)
Provides I&C CSU input with Completions group for system/sub-system turnover packages
Verifies integrity and timely handover of CSU I&C systems through regular inspections/final walkdowns
Leads and supervises a team of I&C engineers/supervisors and technicians
Oversees, reviews and approves all CSU I&C testing activities on plant control systems
Provides ES&H leadership by ensuring proper implementation of all project safety procedures
Education and Experience Requirements:
University/B.S. degree in Engineering plus 10 years of experience or 15 years of equivalent industry experience in lieu of a degree
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong knowledge in testing, commissioning and operation of large plant control systems
Previous experience with DCS, ICSS, SIS, ESD and FGS systems
Previous experience with specialized equipment supplier control systems Experience with commissioning and start-up of I&C driven refrigeration compressors using large MV electric motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
Experience on an LNG construction site, especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast, is preferred
Experience in the design and operation of LNG facilities is preferred
Additional Information: Work includes field inspections requiring extensive walking in high heat/humidity conditions, climbing ladders/scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, uneven surfaces and in confined spaces. Some lifting required. Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for each assigned task.
