Position Overview:

As AVP of Student Experience (AVPSE) at Galen College of Nursing you will provide visionary and strategic leadership for all aspects of the student experience, encompassing student support services, engagement, academic success, and career readiness. This role champions a student-centered learning environment, driving continuous quality improvement, and fostering collaborative partnerships to maximize student success, retention, persistence, graduation rates, and career outcomes. This includes aligning student services with institutional goals and accreditation standards (e.g., ACEN, CCNE).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Student Success & Retention:

a) Develop and oversee comprehensive student success initiatives to improve retention, persistence, completion rates, and NCLEX pass rates.

b) Implement proactive academic support strategies for at-risk students, including early intervention programs, academic coaching, tutoring, and personalized advising.

c) Collaborate with academic leadership to ensure students receive necessary resources and support to navigate academic challenges and licensure preparation.

d) Oversee the development and execution of student engagement strategies that promote a culture of learning, collaboration, and growth mindset.

e) Monitor and analyze student success metrics, enrollment trends, and retention data to inform data-driven decision-making.

f) Oversee the implementation and optimization of student success platforms to enhance academic advising, early alerts, and intervention strategies.

2. Student Services & Experience:

a) Provide strategic leadership and oversight to student support services across all campuses, ensuring a consistent and high-quality student experience.

b) Supervise and direct key student experience units, including Academic Advising, Student Success, Career Services, Student Activities, and First-Year Student Experience programs.

c) Partner with campus operations and campus engagement specialist teams to enhance student orientation, onboarding, and transition experiences.

d) Implement standardized training and professional development for student services personnel across campuses.

e) Support student organizations and extracurricular programming to enrich campus life.

f) Oversee student discipline, due-process procedures, and Title IX compliance.

3. Academic & Career Support:

a) Partner with academic leadership to align student success initiatives with curriculum demands and clinical education requirements.

b) Offer strategic leadership to strengthen employer partnerships, career readiness programs, and workforce development initiatives.

c) Expand career coaching and clinical placement support to increase student preparedness for job placement and licensure success.

d) Foster faculty-student engagement to enhance academic performance, critical thinking, and clinical skills development.

4. Strategic Planning & Compliance:

a) Engage in strategic and long-term planning to enhance the student learning experience and institutional growth.

b) Ensure compliance with ADA, Title IX, FERPA, and other relevant federal and state regulations.

c) Develop, implement, and review student support policies and procedures to promote equitable access to resources and services.

d) Prepare and manage budget allocations for student experience programs and services.

e) Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.

5. Technology & Innovation:

a) Oversee the integration of technology-driven student engagement solutions, including virtual advising, online academic support tools, and AI-driven success tracking.

b) Identify and implement innovative strategies to enhance student learning experiences in both in-person and online environments.

c) Develop student success technology initiatives that improve progress tracking, early intervention effectiveness, and career readiness outcomes.

Position Requirements:

Education: Minimum of a Master's Degree in Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Nursing Education, or a related field required; Doctorate preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in student success, academic advising, or student services, preferably in a nursing or healthcare-focused institution.

Proven track record in developing and implementing student retention strategies, career readiness programs, and academic support initiatives. Demonstrated success in student retention and student success initiatives.

Special Qualifications: Strong leadership skills with the ability to foster a culture of collaboration, shared governance, and teamwork. Expertise in student development theory and current trends in academic student success in higher education. Proven success in building co-curricular learning experiences. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and mobilize a cross-functional team. Knowledge of best practices in student success, academic advising, and student support technologies. Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to student affairs and instructional support. Expertise in Title IX compliance, student advocacy, and student development theories.

Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Travel required as needed to implement policies and lead teams. Regular and predictable on-site attendance is required
