Job Title: Perioperative Circulator

Must-Have: One year experience in an acute operating room environment

Description:
The Perioperative Circulator is a registered nurse who plans, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates nursing care for patients whose protective reflexes or self-care abilities are potentially compromised during operative or other invasive procedures.
The nurse uses clinical knowledge, judgment, and reasoning skills based on scientific principles to plan and implement care that addresses the physical, psychological, and spiritual responses of the patient undergoing an operative or invasive procedure.
The Perioperative Circulator is responsible for the direct and indirect provision of professional nursing care in the operating room.
The nurse is accountable for ongoing evaluation and documentation of all components of care delivered in the perioperative environment, utilizing the nursing process.
Patient care is individualized according to health status, age level, and the specific procedure being performed.
The nurse must display proficiency in professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures, and an excellent understanding of AORN Standards.
The ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is required.
Maintaining good working relationships with other employees is essential.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team providing specialized care are needed.
The role requires some computer skills to fulfill job responsibilities.
Education requirements include an Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program, with a preference for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Preferred certification includes CNOR, although not mandatory.
Additional duties, as assigned, may be expected as part of the general responsibilities.
