For our Human Resources division in New York, we are looking to hire an HR Generalist

HR Generalist, full time - New York

Berenberg is looking to hire an individual to manage vital HR processes across recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll and benefits administration. You will be the go-to resource for employees and work closely with leadership to maintain an engaging workplace culture.

What will you do?
  • Supporting the management in all HR relevant matters for our US business (e. g. recruitment, employee relations, L&D, payroll/benefits);
  • Advising employees in all day-to-day questions such as benefits, absence management, policies / procedures;
  • Leading the recruitment process (application management, interview scheduling, attending interviews, writing contracts);
  • Executing the new starter and onboarding process (e.g. visa, background screening, welcoming new employees);
  • Handling all payroll and benefits activities;
  • Preparing documentation in connection with regular administrative processes, especially preparation of standard paperwork (e.g. reference letters, filling forms, insurances, reports etc.) and ensuring that the electronic personal employee files are up to date accordingly;
  • Collaborating in projects such as digitalization and proactive optimization of processes;
  • All activities require constantly strong cooperation, communication and reporting with the Human Resources Department in Europe.


What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree, or with equivalent relevant work experience;
  • Minimum 5+ years of previous experience HR experience in a similar role;
  • Strong attention to detail appropriate to completing and issuing formal documentation;
  • Sound knowledge of good HR policies and practices, with ability to suggest and implement improvements;
  • An outgoing and robust personality who thrives in a fast-paced, reactive environment;
  • Extremely strong organizational skills, and strong emotional intelligence and ability to prioritize workload;
  • Team player who is highly-organized and can remain calm and professional under pressure whilst maintaining strong attention to detail;
  • Trustworthy and familiar with dealing with highly confidential information.

Salary will vary based on role, education, level of experience, and expertise ranging between $80,000 to $120,000 dollars as a base salary with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus plus comprehensive benefits package.
