What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a highly experienced, proven strategic risk leader who will report directly to the Associate Vice President, Assistant General Counsel - Integrated Risk Management. This position will play a critical role in executing the strategic direction and implementation of Integrated Risk Management (IRM) practices within our organization. This position will drive identification, analysis, mitigation oversight, and tracking of known and emerging risks through coordination with other risk functions and business leadership, ensuring proactive risk management and resilience across our global operations. Eli Lilly and Company's newly created IRM program will oversee our organization's readiness and resilience against known and emerging risks. This team will work in coordination with other risk functions and business leads to ensure proper business continuity and crisis readiness, and risk mitigations. The IRM program will be anchored in Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) technology platforms that will provide front end controls and leadership visibility into key risk indicators.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$222,000 - $325,600
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Analysis and Insights:
- Leads the identification and analysis of strategic and emerging risks that could impact the organization.
- Develops and delivers comprehensive risk assessments and reports to inform senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Utilizes data analytics and qualitative assessments to generate actionable risk insights.
- Collaborates with internal and external experts to enhance the understanding of complex risk landscapes.
- Establishes and maintains a risk insights framework to ensure consistent and reliable risk evaluation.
- Analyzes issues data, industry trends, and cross-functional risk data to identify outliers, trends, and potential emerging risks to escalate to IRM leadership.
- Mitigations, Monitoring, & Reporting:
- Collaborates with risk functions in development and implementation of robust mitigation strategies and action plans for identified strategic and emerging risks.
- Works with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of risk mitigation efforts across the organization.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of risk mitigation plans, including reviews of key performance indicators, issues, and early warning signs.
- Facilitates risk response workshops and training sessions to build organizational resilience.
- Reports on the progress of mitigation efforts to senior leadership and recommends improvements.
- Collaborates closely with IRM leadership to align risk register, mitigation strategies, and issues tracking, including for reports to executive leadership and Board of Directors.
- Horizon Scanning:
- Leads horizon scanning initiatives to identify potential new and emerging risks on the global and industry level.
- Establishes a structured approach to monitor external environments, trends, and disruptors that could impact the business, collaborating with risk liaisons on specific risk trends and insights identified through their functions.
- Develops early warning indicators and risk scenarios to proactively address potential threats.
- Engages with industry peers, regulatory bodies, and thought leaders to stay informed of emerging risk trends.
- Integrates horizon scanning insights into strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Collaborates with IRM leadership to evaluate and select emerging risks for discussion topics among cross-functional leaders.
- Continuous Innovation:
- Champions a forward-thinking mindset with a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement in IRM, including the GRC platform and accompanying data analytics, visualizations, and reporting.
- Embraces change through technological innovation and adoption.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Finance, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Risk Management, or a related risk field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience leading complex, cross functional business or risk issues. Experience in Compliance, Strategy, Audit, Law, or other enterprise risk function preferred.
