Position Summary

An established leader in the energy sector is seeking a Cost Control Analyst to join its Project Controls team. This role focuses on providing comprehensive cost management, forecasting, reporting, and governance support across a portfolio of maintenance projects in the crude oil and natural gas infrastructure space.

The successful candidate will support multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring effective cost control from early planning stages through execution and closeout. Projects typically range in size from $300K to $10MM and span 1 to 2 years in duration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide full life-cycle cost control support to project managers and cross-functional teams across engineering, procurement, construction, and project management disciplines.
  • Develop and manage control budgets, perform cost forecasting, and prepare variance analyses.
  • Generate regular cost reports (monthly, bi-monthly, and quarterly) for stakeholders ranging from project teams to senior executives.
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to assess cost and schedule performance and support decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate and timely cost tracking systems, including support for digital field reporting tools such as Digital LEMS and contractor control documents.
  • Collaborate with schedulers and risk analysts to ensure integrated cost, schedule, and risk reporting.
  • Support implementation of project controls processes such as Baselining, Change Management, Risk Assessments, and Stage Gate reviews.
  • Participate in health checks, internal audits, and continuous improvement efforts related to cost control practices.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in cost control/project controls roles, ideally within the oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Proven ability to support 10 or more active projects concurrently.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls best practices, particularly in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Oracle, EcoSys, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and familiarity with Power BI, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Demonstrated experience in using and improving cost control systems and tools.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills-both written and verbal.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively across geographically dispersed teams.

Preferred Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Cost Engineer (CCC/CCE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is strongly preferred.

Work Environment
  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to regional offices or project field sites.
  • Projects are typically in the maintenance category and span multiple U.S. locations.
