Position Overview:
Develop, implement, and manage activities, programs, and services to promote student recruitment, growth, success, retention, and/or extracurricular development. Recruit, direct, and develop professionals providing non-instructional services to students. Develop processes and policies related to student support services issues such as registration, advisement, graduation, financial aid and retention. Oversee maintenance of student records. Direct evaluation of student and programmatic data to identify needs at the individual student. Oversee student related programs and events for college/school. May assist in educational related activities related to the accreditation process. May represent college/school to outside groups, committees, prospective students, high schools, and parents.
Department Essential Job Functions:
Directs professional, support, graduate, and student staff. Oversees budget and space resources. Reviews University's international enrollment plan and creates new effective strategies to grow new international student recruitment and increase student retention.
Manages international admission personnel and evaluation of international applications regarding academic, English proficiency, determination of transfer credit, and all financial and immigration requirements as established by the University. Administers initial phase of graduate application process.
Engages in global recruitment. Research circumstances affecting international recruitment. Cultivates relationships with community, civic, diplomatic, and business partners. Supervises the development of promotional materials, including website. Obtains private financial funding to support departmental activities.
Oversees the completion and filing of all reports requested by the Departments of State and Homeland Security and its branches. Directs departmental advisement to students on practical training, reinstatement, off-campus employment transfers and related issues, in conjunction with federal law. Co-supervises National Collegiate Network staff.
Sets departmental policies and procedures. Oversees staff management of activities of the International Student Council and all international student organizations. Serves on committees throughout the University as well as those within the Division of Enrollment and Student Success (ESS).
Travels abroad and domestically to recruit students, develop relationships with international high schools/colleges/universities and identifies/attracts international partners to assist UCO with student recruitment efforts. Represents the University at regional, national, and international professional conferences.
Promotes University's global perspective programming efforts. Collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure student success. Collaborates with Academic Affairs on Study Abroad initiatives.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Master's Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent years of relevant work experience with international admissions/recruitment/student programming, a record of successful and innovative experience in leadership and administration, thorough understanding of student immigration procedures. 7+ years of experience with leading planning, including program development and innovation, program prioritization, and assessment. Must be able to certify as one of the University's SEVIS Designated School Officials (DSOI) to support 1-20 and visa application processes for incoming students. Appropriate profession accomplishments and credentials.
Must have a valid driver's license and passport with ability to travel for recruitment purposes.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
Minimum of 5 years of college admission or school counseling experience, preferably with an international focus. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Comprehensive international recruitment/marketplace experience. Budget management experience. Experience using a CRM.
