The Finance Operations, Global Data Analytics (GDA) team is seeking an exceptionally talented BI Engineering Governance Lead to define and drive the BI strategy for Finance Operations. This high-responsibility and high-visibility role involves robust ownership of intelligence engineering underpinnings, including technical, process, and quality assurance considerations. The successful candidate will build one of the most impactful BI environments in the industry while thriving in Amazon's high-paced, Day 1 culture.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define the BI strategy for Finance Operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and analytics objectives.
- Build, lead, and develop a global team of BI Engineers to deliver scalable and secure solutions.
- Collaborate with business users to understand requirements and optimize data-driven decision-making processes.
Governance Frameworks
- Act as the custodian of data and metrics governance by establishing tenets, processes, and tools for data documentation and quality assurance.
- Drive data literacy programs and democratize access to analytics tools across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and Amazon standards through robust governance policies.
Technical Implementation
- Architect, optimize, and organize large-scale data pipelines from data lake to visualization tools.
- Access data on the AWS stack and apply expertise in SQL, Python, and scripting languages for analytics solutions.
- Manage migration from Tableau to QuickSight while building sophisticated visualizations optimized for QuickSight.
- Implement AI-powered self-service analytics tools for predictive insights and anomaly detection.
Operational Excellence
- Own data pipelines ensuring performance, scalability, resilience, availability, and security.
- Monitor BI infrastructure performance metrics to meet business SLAs and operational efficiency targets.
- Develop implementation and operation support plans for analytics platforms like QuickSight.

Global Accounts Payable and Global Accounts Receivable are in charge of all AP and AR processes across Amazon's businesses and geographies. Global Data Analytics (GDA) provide data, analytics and insights to AR and AP. Our mission: "As trusted and business-focused analytics partners, we provide timely data, analytics, and insights across Service Centers (SCs) and global functions. We are custodians of data and metrics definitions. We apply science methods to large-scale transactional processes."
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience
- 5+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with ETL
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment experience
- 10+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
