Job Overview
Internal Audit is an independent and objective examination, evaluation, and reporting function that is guided by a philosophy of adding value to improve the operations of Pennymac. Internal Audit's objective is to bring a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the organization's governance, risk management, and internal control environment. Internal Audit reports to the Audit Committees of the Entity Boards and is managed on a day-to-day basis by the Head of Internal Audit who reports administratively to the CEO. The group manager of internal audit is responsible for defining, administering and maintaining policies, programs and processes to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of internal controls to mitigate risk and promote compliance with financial reporting, GSE and regulatory requirements. The group manager works in collaboration with the enterprise risk management teams and the business executives to scope the annual audit plan to include emerging business strategies and associated risks to support timely assessment and recommended improvement of respective processes and controls. The group manager is responsible for presenting and obtaining approval of the internal audit plan to the respective audit committees of the entity boards, and serves as a liaison with external auditors to coordinate scheduling and partnered resourcing.

A Typical Day
The Vice President Internal Audit contributes to the definition, administration and maintenance of policies, programs, and processes to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of internal controls to mitigate risk and promote compliance with financial reporting, GSE, and regulatory requirements.
As the VP Internal Audit, you will:
- Participate in the development and administration a 3-year rotational Internal Audit Plan
- Establish direction and focus of major audits
- Anticipate and provide solutions to the most complex findings/issues
- Define and evolve structure of reporting to meet internal and external requirements
- Work with business managers to administer ad hoc audits in accordance with company priorities
- Work with line managers to monitor recommendations and remediation
- Serve as liaison with external auditors
- Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development of business unit goals and action plans to anticipate and support the needs of a growth-oriented company
- Provide consultation on audit topics
- Governance:
- Maintain an informed perspective on organizational risks for influence of audit schedule, focus and remediation activities
- Report to the CFO, CEO or Board Audit Committee(s) regarding performance relative to the approved Internal Audit Plan and other matters
- Work with senior management to develop Policies and Procedures
- Maintain and publish status and exception management reporting
- Other:
- Allocate and coordinate resources and manage HR-related issues within the department
- Provides training and guidance to team members
- Completes special assignments necessary to support business strategy

What You'll Bring
- CPA, CIA, or CISA preferred
- 10 years of industry experience
- In-depth knowledge of the firm's products and the investment management industry
- Broad understanding of technology's strategic role and impact
- Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices & procedures

- General computer skills; including use of Microsoft Office Suite
