Job Summary & Qualifications

The individual in this role has 10+ years of experience in this industry and a minimum of 3 years in a non-managerial role, leading activity of other project team members on-site, or direct management of employees in a prior managerial role.

They already possess the knowledge of advanced understanding of HVAC industry, as well as Safety and Commissioning processes and best practices. Individual demonstrates excellent customer service and leadership skills.

As a manager, this individual will interview, hire, train, mentor, evaluate, and when necessary, terminate field personnel or make related recommendations. Responsible for the administration of company policies including safety, utilization, tools, and training/development.

This position is also responsible for managing field engineers in accordance with company HR policies and procedures. This position reports into an operations manager.

Responsibilities Include:

Safety
  • Complete all required site and personnel safety audits for your direct reports and projects sites that your team is working on (Min 12/year).
  • Coordinate with the Branch Safety Manager to ensure that all employees complete required SE safety training.
  • Ensure that all field engineers are SST certified.
  • Ensure that all direct reports wear proper PPE while on the jobsite. This includes SE-issued hard hat, safety glasses, hi-visibility reflective vest, construction boots, and gloves. Report non-compliance to safety officer & operations manager.
  • Ensure that all techs have completed lift training and are certified to operate a lift.
  • Conduct Toolbox talks during team huddles.

Employee Management
  • Establish yearly performance goals for direct reports and collaborate to define short- & long-term development goals.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports by building trust, fostering growth, and sharing best practices.
  • Assign mentors to all employees in the department that have less than two years of experience.
  • Perform annual and midyear performance reviews for all direct reports.
  • Establish training plans for all direct reports and encourage them to keep their training up to date.
  • Conduct one-on-one monthly team meetings.
  • Hold team huddles every other week.
  • Conduct regular one on ones with direct reports.
  • Schedule quarterly team building events.
  • Participate in the OneVoice deep dive action planning committee.
  • Collaborate with service leadership team to improve team collaboration, effectiveness, and employee satisfaction.
  • Staffing and Team Growth
  • Participate in all UR-related recruiting activities and work with the leadership team to identify and interview qualified candidates.
  • Track and fill all open requisitions, and quickly open any additional requisitions as needed due to growth or attrition.
  • Execution Quality & Efficiency

Ensure field engineers utilize CPP process and complete all required documents including point-to-point check-out sheets, red lines for as-builts, and any additional required commission

Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree is the standard requirement, with programs in construction management, engineering, or related fields being most common.
  • Previous leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in Building automationand or HVAC a must
