The Role

The Director, Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance with Ascent Developer Solutions. Working with the General Counsel, this role involves serving as a subject matter expert for regulatory and lending compliance, filing State and Federal reports including HMDA (Reg C), Mortgage Call Reports, and Licensing Reports, leading marketing compliance initiatives, developing and maintaining compliance policies and procedures, acting as a licensing and regulatory liaison, and implementing corrective action.

The Work

This role is responsible for ensuring compliance across Ascent Developer Solutions. This includes a proactive and risk-oriented individual who has experience with a growing company, as the compliance needs will adapt as the company continues to grow. Working closely with the General Counsel, you will provide compliance recommendations that include setting policies and procedures, training, maintenance of compliance oriented workstreams, testing, and corrective action.   • Maintain company licensing, including managing renewal processes.
  • Evaluate, create, and adapt compliance policies and procedures.
  • Review compliance training and make training recommendations.
  • File State and Federal Reports including HMDA, Call Reports, and others as needed.
  • Monitor regulatory and compliance changes and communicate to the organization.
  • Assist with organization maintenance.
  • Serve as a liaison with outside constituents including regulators, licensing agencies, outside counsel, and others.
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as needed.


Your Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Paralegal certificate and experience preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in lending or financial services
  • Proven lending compliance experience
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders across departments and management levels
  • Experience in a highly collaborative environment, fostering an entrepreneurial culture, driving growth, and demonstrating leadership in problem-solving and innovation
  • Proactive, growth- and risk-oriented mindset with a focus on results


The Pay

Salary range is $130.000-$150,000 per year with a discretionary bonus of 25% per year

The Work Environment

  • This role works on-site from Ascent's Encino office at least 1x/week, preferably 4x/week (Fridays are work-from-home).
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week; must be available for occasional overtime.
  • Some nights and weekends required.

The pay range for this role is:

130,000 - 150,000 USD per year (Los Angeles, CA)
