Job Description

The Director of Information Technology (IT) will act as the IT Partner for the Materials Group North America business (MG). You will combine your knowledge of desired business outcomes with functional expertise to develop technology plans and roadmaps to drive competitive advantage for these businesses.

This person plays a critical role in guiding and enabling the business strategy. The role's primary focus will be within the Materials Group, the largest business unit in North America. We have 20+ locations, 2900 employees, and $2B in revenue. We are an execution and innovation-driven business. As a business, we prioritize key initiatives with a 'customer first' focus on promoting loyalty and profitable growth and establishing a more resilient and efficient supply chain. We are working to improve our capability in the critical areas of forecasting, digitization, system optimization, and process redesign -- all aimed at anticipating and meeting our customers' needs.

The Director of IT fully understands the breadth of IT services available within the existing organization and combines this with knowledge of emerging technologies to share options, recommend solutions, and share accountability with its business partners for meeting the desired business outcomes.

The Director of IT will be an active member of the MG NA leadership team and will be responsible for driving the IT strategy for the NA business unit and collaborating with other IT functions to support initiatives across the business unit to meet agreed-upon business outcomes.

Key priorities for the role include:

Develop an IT Strategy and Roadmap. Technology strategy and investments will need to be aligned with business strategy. The Director of IT will then lead the development and implementation of a prioritization process to enable MG NA to make investment decisions that drive growth and profitability and work with the business leaders to integrate IT solutions into the business and customer strategy.

The Director of IT will collaborate with other functions (inside and outside of IT) to formulate a long-term IT strategy and recommendations for technology investments to enhance current IT capabilities and advance the business. S/he will assess the potential and business applications of existing and emerging technologies.

Partner to Drive Innovation and Execution of Regional Digital Optimization Initiatives. This role will be a key strategic voice and leader in our business's digital optimization. Partnering with the BU leadership team, the Director of IT will bring new ideas and fresh perspectives and operate as a subject matter expert in guiding our business and internal teams through digital optimization initiatives that can transform our business. This leader must maintain a working knowledge of our architecture technology standards and emerging technologies and be able to incorporate solutions into digital strategies.

Act as the primary lead/point of contact for IT in the region. This person fully understands the AD IT strategy, departments, and infrastructure to properly guide and ensure the execution of current and planned projects and programs. The Director of IT will actively partner with other IT functions (e.g., PMO, Applications, Architecture, Sourcing, Infrastructure, IT Security, etc.) to drive execution and deliver successful business outcomes. The incumbent will partner with the business functions to ensure that the programs meet the expected benefits.

Role Location: Mentor, Ohio

Reporting Relationship: This role reports to the Senior Vice President and CIO with a dotted line to the Senior Vice President and General Manager of MG North America.

Qualifications
  • 12+ years of strong business experience and significant experience in leading IT for a region in a manufacturing organization, preferably a director of IT for a complex region of a business unit or a global business unit.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science (or equivalent). A Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Strong business experience, as well as experience in IT, with proven experience leading organizations in a matrixed organization
  • Experience in defining, developing, and implementing IT strategies and major systems; a broad-based business person capable of applying current and future technology and competencies to meet overall business strategies and priorities. Must have experience with ERP implementations.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle EBS or Fusion experience preferred.
  • Proven expertise in supply chain knowledge and IT transformation in manufacturing companies.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and proven collaboration and communication skills - navigating global, business, and regional structures across IT and the business to influence and execute effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, performance-driven.
  • Ability to see "the bigger picture" and to focus on and work in the details, this is a 'hands-on' role.
  • Proven ability to act as a change agent for the organization (beyond the IT organization).
  • Ability to travel regionally and globally (approximately 25% of the time, and possibly more at times).

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $175,650 - $215,400/ year. The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate's relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
