General Summary

Leads an integrated marketing and communications function focused on translating the health system's strategic plan into short, mid and long-term strategies that differentiate the WellSpan Health brand, build positive reputation, support consumer growth and loyalty, and cultivates relationships between the organization and its internal and external constituencies. Oversees systemwide marketing, communications, creative services, public relations, and issues/reputation management.

  • Develops and executes comprehensive communication and marketing strategies that align with WellSpan's business objectives and drive measurable results.
  • Leads the brand management efforts to ensure a strong, consistent brand identity across all marketing and communication materials and channels.
  • Ensures the creation and distribution of compelling content for various platforms, including digital, print, social media and events.
  • Develops and executes strategic public relations strategies to build reputation, including media relations strategy, awards strategy press, community sponsorship strategy, and crisis communication.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and effective communication strategies.
  • Develops data driven approaches; monitors and analyzes market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to inform decisions.
  • Understands the business, industry, and external environment, and advocates internally to ensure that organizational actions match intention and message.
  • Serves as a vocal and trusted counselor to executive team.
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to the marketing and communications team, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation and excellence in execution.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and industry influencers.
  • Excels as thinker, writer, speaker, listener, and team leader.
  • Continuously assess and improve team performance. Maintain appropriate quality control/assessment programs (if applicable).
  • Develop budget(s) for the department and allocate funds within budget(s) to accomplish objectives.
  • Monitor variance against budget(s).
  • Develop, establish and implement goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the department, which guide and support the services provided by the team.
  • Direct the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepare periodic reports for top management, as required.
  • Develop relationships with community agencies, groups and professional affiliations as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Provide outstanding service to all customers; foster teamwork; and practice fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.


Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree Required. Masters Degree Preferred
  • 15+ years in a large and complex setting with an established track record of driving market leading results and related supportive culture; Demonstrated successful leadership in highly matrixed organizations and creating highly engaged teams; Healthcare experience strongly preferred Required
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of current health care issues and trends as well as local, regional, state and national market forces
