SUVI is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS), Criminal Investigation Division (CI) in Chantilly, Virgina. The Software Engineer will be responsible for deploying and evaluating complex GOTS and COTS software solutions in a predominantly Linux-based on-premises environment, with potential for Windows integration. Will configure databases, containers, services, and evaluate APIs and data processing. Responsibilities

  • Deploy complex software applications into an on-premises environment ensuring efficient integration of services, databases and containers.
  • Configure and manage databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL and MS SQL Server, ensuring smooth operation within the deployed software architecture.
  • Implement and maintain containers (Docker, Kubernetes) for service deployment, scaling and orchestration.
  • Evaluate APIs and tools used for data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL), ensuring seamless integration into existing systems.
  • Write and maintain Python and Bash scripts to automate deployment processes, configuration tasks and system health checks.
  • Support infrastructure provisioning using Terraform to manage and scale environments.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers and teams for potential integrations with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Provide clear, concise documentation on deployment processes, configuration changes and troubleshooting steps.

Qualifications

  • US citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server) including database configuration, optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes including the creation and management of containers and containerized services.
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting for automation, system configuration and integration tasks.
  • Experience with distributed object storage solutions such as AWS S3, and a working knowledge of Terraform.
  • Experience in working with Linux systems including system administration and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and report on technical concepts clearly.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Nutanix or other on-premises cloud infrastructure solutions to deploy, manage, and scale systems within an on-premises environment.
  • Experience with cloud storage services such as Amazon S3 or Azure Blob Storage.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.).
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and managing service-based architectures at scale.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
