Summary of Position:

The Operations Support Services Manager is responsible for standardization and integrity of support services across the Delaware and Midland basins, including Compression fleet management, Chemical program deployment, and Maintenance program management. This position will be responsible for managing teams of Foremen and Technicians that handle optimization of the field compression fleet, effectiveness and optimization of the chemical program, and optimization of field preventive and corrective maintenance program. This person will collaborate closely with Engineering, the Development Team, Air Quality, and Production Operations Team to ensure successful long-term planning, execution, and operation. The role will also be a critical contributor in ensuring that the Company's assets and operations are compliant with all local, State, and Federal regulations.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides high level technical support and historic experience to the design of oil and gas facilities, supports front-end engineering design, and drives efficiency and standardization in design, construction, and maintenance activities.
  • Identifies and develops high-performance individuals that specialize in compression, chemical programs, and maintenance programs.
  • Drives and develops culture between office personnel, location supervision and individuals from adjacent teams and divisions.
  • Manages a team to provide practical solutions for optimizing performance, reliability, and profitability, as well recommend and execute capital projects.
  • Works with Production Operations and Production Engineering Teams to identify opportunities to deploy or redeploy field compression as operating conditions and compression requirements change over time.
  • Works with Production Operations Team to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of Chemical programs and other asset integrity program elements.
  • Works with Production Operation Team to monitor efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance programs and provides feedback to Facilities Engineering and Construction Team on maintenance requirements for facilities designs.
  • Supports building of tools that report on all aspects of compression, chemical programs, and maintenance programs.
  • Monitors operational and financial performance of compression, chemical programs, and maintenance programs as well as identify and implement projects to improve performance.
  • Partners with the production team to track and act on feedback of design and operation of facilities, adjusting designs to best fit company needs and expectations.
  • Partners with supply chain management and procurement professions in the contracting and purchasing process by which new contractors are engaged to maintain facilities and infrastructure.
  • Prepares annual capital (CAPEX) and maintenance (LOE) budgets for wellsite facilities and midstream projects (as developed by engineering and field teams) - supports the writing/tracking of AFEs and accruals.
  • Ensures full and effective implementation of EHS policies by all staff and contractors engaged in compression, chemicals, and maintenance work.


  • Works with ESG and Air team to explore new ideas and technologies that support emissions reduction and facility simplification.
  • Identifies needed process improvements associated with asset management, material transfer and other company-wide gaps.
  • Works across divisions to drive efficiency, cooperation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA 1910 Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations in all covered facilities.
  • Provides leadership in safe operating practices and ensures compliance with CIVI Environmental, Safety & Regulatory requirements along with API, DOT, and OSHA best practices.
  • Responsible for identifying and delegating cost ownership to specific parties as related to LOE tracking and budgeting.
  • Leads collaboration across disciplines in ways that best support the business rather than individual groups.
  • Supports development of data-led technologies and initiatives.
  • Assures all work performed adheres to CIVI standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Experience in a variety of upstream oil and gas facilities operations areas including wellsite tank batteries, centralized oil and water processing systems, field compression and rotating equipment.
  • Field-based experience associated with construction or maintenance of facilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of midstream operations in the gas and oil industry.
  • Understanding or exposure to specialty skillsets, such as instrumentation and electrical, mechanical maintenance, automation, measurement, and compression.
  • Willingness to question the status quo and define the need for each established standard.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.


  • Proficiency with OSHA 1910 Process Safety Management programs.
  • Experience with MOC and PSSR processes.
  • Experience with DOT pipeline regulation compliance and program administration.
  • Experience with sour gas sweetening processes along with gas conditioning.
  • All around, excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead and manage a compression, chemicals, and maintenance team.
  • Adept at handling stress.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline driven.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional demeanor.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and development of individual knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to develop other staff members within area of responsibility.
  • Planning agility to work in concert with drilling schedules and other departments.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises 3-5 direct reports who are also managers of individuals or contractors.
  • Direct reports include office-based engineering staff as well as field-based foremen.


Education & Experience:

  • BS Degree in Engineering a plus (Chemical, Petroleum or Mechanical preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years' professional experience in oil & gas or similar process industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing operations and engineering staff.
  • Ability to pass Civitas' pre-employment hiring process.


Travel & Additional Requirements:
  • Work Location: Work is performed at a CIVI location Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays as business needs allow and with manager approval.
  • Schedule: Traditional 40-hour workweek or an alternative schedule of 9-hour workdays Monday through Thursday and 4-hour workdays on Friday, as business needs allow and with manager approval.
  • Travel required to the Civitas field locations - expect bi-weekly field travel (minimum) during first 6 months to get acquainted with teams and locations.

Base Pay Range: $186,100 - $217,300
