Responsibilities/Duties
Alberta Health Services is inviting applications for a Family Medicine Physician to join the Division of Continuing Care and Seniors Health located in Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada.
WestView Continuing Care Centre, located in Stony Plain, Alberta, is a comprehensive healthcare facility offering 24/7 care for 40 individuals with complex and unpredictable medical needs. The facility features a Continuing Care Unit that caters to patients requiring assistance with daily activities, complex medication management, and rehabilitation services. This centre is equipped with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including Registered Nurses, LPNs, Health Care Aides, a Nurse Practitioner, Allied Health, and other physicians who work as a team to provide personalized care and support. The successful applicant would be invited to collaborate with the physician team to grow their practice at a pace that meets their needs. The physician would be responsible for their own case management Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with the support of a Nurse Practitioner on site. The Nurse Practitioner would work closely with the physician to complete resident assessments and care, facilitate family and resident discussions, and collaborate with the care team. The successful applicant would be encouraged to participate in the afterhours / weekend Long Term Care coverage roster, which is supported by a stipend from WestView Primary Care Network.

Successful Candidates will have a functional knowledge of resources and challenges in Alberta's primary health care system. This knowledge will be supported by the candidate having completed a two year Family Medicine Residency and by ongoing community primary care experience.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to teamwork and peer relationships. The successful candidate should be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of Family Medicine.
The successful candidate must currently be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada and have medical licensure in the province of Alberta. This position is NOT eligible for AHS sponsorship of a College of Physicians and Surgeons Practice Readiness Assessment
