Description:
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to support a federal agency's enterprise AI and data strategy by designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge machine learning and AI solutions. This role will lead experimentation with advanced AI technologies, including large and small language models, AI agents, and agentic workflows, to deliver scalable, cost-efficient, and mission-aligned capabilities. Hybrid work environment and must be available to work onsite as necessary.
The Senior Data Scientist will collaborate with data engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure AI models are trained on high-quality, ready-to-use data and integrated into operational environments through modern MLOps practices.

The Senior Data Scientist will collaborate with data engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure AI models are trained on high-quality, ready-to-use data and integrated into operational environments through modern MLOps practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Design, solution, and deploy modern, scalable, and cost-efficient AI/ML models and AI solutions to support the agency's mission and AI and Data strategies.
- Conduct research and experimentation on AI technologies, including large language models, small language models, AI agents, and AI agentic workflow.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and others to ensure data readiness for AI applications.
- Implement MLOps practices for model training, fine-tuning, and optimization.
- Provide technical expertise in AI and machine learning, including natural language processing, information retrieval, summarization, chatbot development, and model performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, ROUGE, BertScore, precision@k, recall@k, t-sne, similarity scores, etc.
Required Skills:
- 8 years of experience as a Data Scientist
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- Extensive experience in machine learning, AI, and deep learning, including large language models, small language models, embedding models, and natural language processing from designing to prototyping and deploying in production. Additionally, experience in developing AI agents and AI agentic workflows is highly desirable.
- Extensive experience in data quality pipeline development, encompassing integrity, accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and reliability of data.
- Proficiency in AI frameworks and libraries such as OpenAI, Langchain, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face.
- Strong understanding of MLOps practices and tools, including AWS Bedrock and SageMaker.
- Technical proficiency in Python and other relevant programming languages.
- Experience working within DevOp practices such as authoring automated unit and system tests and using standard tools such as git.
- Experience with AI model development, training, fine-tuning, and optimization.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have a Public Trust Clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or another quantitative discipline.
