WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Sr. Database Administrator will be part of the Enterprise Database Services team and is responsible for the Database Engineering & Capacity Management function with a strong focus on IT Governance and Security. The Senior Database Administrator is a member of the Database Administrator team and is responsible for all functions associated with the physical implementation, operation, and maintenance of database environments. Responsibilities include planning, documentation, operations, security, and contingency planning. Ensures database recovery, maintenance, and capacity for physical database are met through formulations and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Develop and maintain the architecture, engineering, deployment and support of Oracle Database and Oracle Database Platform.
  • Support Database Platform Engineering in the architecture, development and deployment of Oracle Databases and Oracle Engineered Platforms (Oracle Database Appliance or Exadata) in high SLA environments.
  • Database administration for off the shelf and internally developed applications, ensure continuous 24x7 operation and availability in support of mission critical business applications and participating in on-call rotation.
  • Regular database capacity planning related to database growth and system utilization, trend analysis, predictive future database resource requirements, and the structured organized reporting of the same.
  • Support local/across the DC failover with High Availability Disaster Recovery environment with Data Guard & Golden Gate for Oracle. Participate in Database Maintenance and DR activities.
  • Works closely with information security to ensure all databases conform to TSS (Technical Security Standards) standards.
  • Write/maintain Shell/Python scripts for DB automation.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of DBA tools to improve the effectiveness of tasks like performance monitoring and tuning, recovery, and database change management processing.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must-Have*
  • 5 years of DB Engineering/Administration experience primarily with Oracle databases with atleast 7 years of overall IT experience.
  • 4-5 years of experience managing Oracle Database Appliance or Oracle Exadata systems.
  • Should have good Troubleshooting and Performance Improving Skills including index creation, query optimization, schema changes etc.
  • Good experience with Python/Ruby/Shell scripting and experience in configuration management tools like Ansible
  • UNIX/Linux platform skills and understanding of operating system, network, storage and security.


Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database fundamentals and Architecture.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle Golden Gate fundamentals
  • Strong understanding of Oracle Data Guard fundamentals
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database security management


The expected salary range for this particular position is $85,000-$150,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
