Job Summary:
Weather Stream is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Product Officer to lead the strategy, development, and continuous improvement of the company's satellite and weather data products, enabling customer uptake and commercialization of Weather Stream's GEMS satellite constellation. As the Chief Product Officer, you will be responsible for defining and driving the product vision, roadmap, and user experience to ensure data products meet the needs of diverse clients in industries such as insurance, disaster management, and energy. You will work closely with engineering and customer-facing teams to ensure seamless integration of cutting-edge satellite data with real-world challenges and customer needs.

Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment. May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required. May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may require long hours and weekend work.

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area, overnight or international travel may be expected.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the overarching product strategy, roadmap, and execution for Weather Stream's satellite and weather data products.
- Align product strategy with company-wide goals, considering marketing, engineering, and growth requirements, working closely with the rest of the C-suite.
- Act as a key spokesperson for data products, driving internal and external product education, and representing the product vision at industry events and with potential partners.
- Lead and manage technical development of the products team, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and positive working environment.
- Ensure research and development efforts are achievable and aligned with product strategy.
- Identify hiring opportunities and requirements for products team growth, and work with the Chief People Officer to develop a strategic hiring plan.
- Work with the CEO, CTO, and team principal investigators (PIs) to identify funded R&D effort opportunities, and ensure research proposals are aligned with company goals.
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and partners to gather insights and translate them into product features that address customer needs across key sectors.
- Collaborate with engineering, UX/UI designers, data scientists, and other cross-functional teams to deliver innovative features and improve the user experience.
- Identify and implement performance metrics to measure product success and user satisfaction and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure continuous improvement.
- Represent the products team on key, company-wide initiatives and projects, ensuring transparency between the technical development team and stakeholders.
- Manage partner and stakeholder relations, ensuring project requirements are being met for both subcontractor and incoming project efforts.
- Manage and mentor a team of product managers, prioritizing tasks and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Stay up to date with the state-of-the-art in satellite and weather data to ensure the company's product direction is innovative and world-leading.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in product management or product leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a senior role overseeing digital products, preferably in SaaS, aerospace, or data-driven industries.
- Strong background in managing products related to data delivery, visualization, dashboards, or analytics platforms.
- Experience working with satellite, geospatial, or weather-related data is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of building and scaling user-facing products that integrate large datasets and complex analytics.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
- Expertise in product management methodologies (Agile, Lean, etc.) and tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar.
- Understanding of cloud platforms, big data infrastructures (AWS, Google Cloud), and APIs that power data-driven applications.
- Customer-centric mindset with a passion for delivering outstanding user experiences and solving complex problems with data.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with UX/UI design principles and best practices for creating intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
- Familiarity with weather, geospatial, or satellite technology platforms, including relevant industry standards.
- Demonstrated experience in driving growth and revenue through innovative product development and strategic partnerships.
