Purpose of Role

The purpose of this role is to identify and pursue new business opportunities within the public sector, typically for companies or organizations that offer services to government agencies or directly with governmental entities. They work to build relationships, understand governmental needs and develop strategies to secure contacts, manage partnerships, and increase profitability.

Successful candidates will have the ability to build relationships with potential clients, while developing sales strategies, and securing new contracts through proactive outreach and market analysis; essentially driving the company's growth by acquiring new projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify potential clients and market segments within target business and government services sector, analyzing competitor activity, and understanding market trends.
  • Actively seeking out new business leads through networking, attending industry events, and cold calling.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and potential clients.
  • Assist in proposal development and presentations to showcase the company's capabilities and win new projects.
  • Manage the entire sales process from initial contact through contract negotiation and closure.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive pricing proposals for projects.
  • Oversee the contract signing process and ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Monitor sales pipeline, forecasting revenue, and analyzing key metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education, Skills, and Abilities

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, construction management, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of business development experience preferred.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Willingness to Travel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Required to present to groups.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasion abilities to close deals.
  • In depth knowledge of construction market, including key players and project opportunities.
  • Ability to build relationships with engineers, developers, and other industry professionals
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to constructively manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Possess a valid drivers license and vehicle suitable for business use (mileage reimbursement may apply).

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Physical Functions:

Physical requirements involve performing general office activities. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.It will occasionally stand, and lift up to 20 lbs.

Working Environment:

This role will be an indoor normal climate-controlled office setting and will require travel.

Proper Personal Equipment: Cellular phone.
