A Controls Professional Engineer to design electrical automation and control systems to accomplish customer objectives while complying with codes, industry standards, and specifications.
Required:
- 5 years' experience designing control panels
- Professional Engineering License required
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, related Bachelor's discipline, related degree from a Technical College or equivalent Industrial controls experience
- PLC programming using Allen Bradley RSLogix or other PLC software
- Expert knowledge of PLC logic and controls and working knowledge of HMI's
- Experience with complex integrated systems
- Advanced skills and knowledge of MS Office; AutoCAD and Visio
- 7 years of experience in automation and controls
Job Responsibilities:
- Works with clients and engineering firms to gather information for design requirements and limiting conditions. Reviews standard documentation, local and national codes, and industry requirements for parameters and limiting factors.
- Provides input to clients for system functionality and requirements.
- Visits sites to assess accuracy of drawings, site obstacles, and hazards.
- Works with Designers to design site plans while providing I/O list and conduit and cable schedule, provides preliminary design for installers and vendors to get cost estimates.
- Provides oversight to Engineers-In-Training and Designers and certifies drawings.
- May propose equipment and evaluate vendors and requirements.
- Develops network topologies to determine network architecture, appropriate equipment, and interconnections between equipment.
- Works with Designers to design control panels inclusive of equipment, power, enclosures, I/O checks, and drawings. Reviews design of panels based upon governing documents for the control system. Reviews components within panels for design requirements, manufacturer standards, and codes.
- Resolves conflicts with clients involving safety requirements and change orders.
- Typically works on the design and post-design of 4 to 5 projects simultaneously.
- Sign and seal customer deliverables.
