About Coastal Regional Center
Coastal Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Under general supervision, provides nursing care, including wound care, to individuals, as ordered, in assigned units with responsibility for maintaining the nursing needs. Management of medications and treatments according to pharmacy and nursing procedure guidelines. Actively documents and participates in the rehabilitation programs of individuals.
1. Wound care per physicians' orders. Attend off campus wound care appointments. Accurately record all treatments and tolerance/response to treatments. Maintain adequate supply of wound care products on campus for current wound care orders. Educate staff on wound care, wound prevention and maintaining skin integrity. Effectively and timely communicates with physicians with updates on wound care and progress. Accurately records all details of wounds. Collaborates with dietitian to identify at risk consumers.
2. Administer medications as ordered, in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures. Strict adherence to "5 RIGHTS" of medication administration required. Right person, right medication, right dose, right route, right time. Any noted variation of one or more of these "rights" requires notification of Nurse Manager, effective charting and/or GER for accurate depiction of reasoning, in addition to MD notification, clarification, or new order as applicable.
3. Accurately and effectively administer/perform all ordered treatments due during your shift as evidenced by initialing appropriately in treatment book upon completion and charting/reporting effectiveness as necessary.
4. Charting per facility policy regarding important information necessary to evaluate current health conditions, I&O, Vital Signs, Blood Glucose readings as ordered, etc. Also charting on individual consumers, BY EXCEPTION, as prudently necessary to evaluate effectiveness of short-term medications and progression of acute issues/illnesses. Along with charting comes reporting of anomalies and condition of assigned unit(s) as a whole to Nurse Manager or designee before end of shift.
Unit paperwork as required by policy, procedure, and/or DPH (Department of Public Health) requirements to include, but not limited to, Narcotic count verification, chart checks for loose pills/expired meds, monthly unit information gathering/charting/reporting flowsheets, HCRs (Health Care Report), etc.
The salary range for this position is $77,500 to $85,543 and will be based on verified work-related nursing experience as indicated on the candidate's application. This position is eligible for up to $6.25/hour shift differential for applicable shifts! Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after one, six, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment. One (1) year wound care nursing experience. CPR certification. Must remain current CPR certification during employment.
Extensive knowledge of practical nursing procedures, sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices. Ability to work with dually diagnosed individuals and to assist in interventions to advert potentially dangerous situations. Extensive knowledge on wound care, sterile and clean technique, wound prevention, and maintaining skin integrity. Ability to educate and train staff on wound care, wound prevention, skin integrity and policies and procedures as related.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the techniques and practices of the nursing profession. Knowledge of medical and nursing terminology. Ability to adhere to standing orders, policies and procedures. Ability to plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. Ability to establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of patients.
