As the UX Design Lead for Battle.net Shared Technologies, you will be at the helm of Blizzard's multi-brand design system, where you will drive consistency, innovation, and scalability across all teams. Your mission is to develop and execute a clear vision for a design system that empowers teams, enhances user experiences, and fuels the creative magic that makes Blizzard legendary. From UI frameworks to interaction patterns, you will define and evolve the design foundation that supports Battle.net and Blizzard's global gaming ecosystem.

We're looking for a strategic and hands-on leader who thrives in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. You should possess top-tier communication skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to champion design at every level of the organization. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in design systems, product design, and scalable innovation, with a proven track record of identifying, researching, designing, and shipping features and products through a design system. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the vision for the design system, ensuring it aligns with both business objectives and user experience needs.
  • Lead and nurture a team of talented product designers by providing mentorship, career development opportunities, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on large-scale design initiatives, advocating for players' needs and ensuring a cohesive user experience across multiple products.
  • Promote adoption and education by developing training programs, onboarding resources, and evangelizing systematic design thinking throughout the organization.
  • Push the boundaries of design excellence by continuously evolving the design system based on research, data, and real-world usage, ensuring it remains innovative, scalable, and adaptable.
  • Create and maintain robust documentation that clearly articulates design principles, component best practices, and style guidelines to maintain consistency across teams.
  • Collaborate with design leadership to refine design strategies, explore emerging technologies, and uphold industry best practices, driving the continuous evolution of Blizzard's design standards.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in user experience design, interaction design, or similar
  • 2+ years of leadership experience, guiding and mentoring designers while fostering a culture of collaboration and growth.
  • Proven expertise in building and scaling design systems, with a track record of driving consistency and efficiency across products.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts, advocate for design decisions, and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to develop and execute a design system vision that aligns with both user needs and business objectives.
  • Technical fluency, with a solid understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and how design integrates into development workflows (no coding required)
  • Experience working within Agile/Kanban development teams and using JIRA

  • Experience or enthusiasm for tackling the challenges of multi-brand design systems and scaling them across diverse products.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $121,500.00 - $224,880.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
