Position Overview:
This organization is seeking a Drainage Engineer to support hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, cross drain design, stormwater management facilities, and floodplain compensation analysis. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise to manage projects, mentor junior staff, and build relationships in the dynamic Tampa and Orlando regions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for conveyance systems and cross drains.
  • Design stormwater management facilities and floodplain compensation systems.
  • Prepare and inspect Best Management Practices (BMPs) for erosion and sediment control.
  • Create technical documents, including hydrology/drainage reports, pond siting reports, bridge hydraulics reports, and permitting documents.
  • Prepare construction plans adhering to FDOT standards.
  • Serve as the Drainage Engineer of Record for assigned projects.
  • Perform field reviews, site visits, and project research.
  • Assist in preparing LOI's, ELOI's, and proposals.
  • Navigate permitting processes with the South Florida and Southwest Florida Water Management Districts.
  • Communicate with plan review agencies to address review comments promptly.
  • Maintain organized project files in line with company document retention guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in land development design, FDOT drainage design, and/or permitting.
  • Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling concepts, theories, and practices.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles for site and/or roadway design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD & Civil 3D, OpenRoads, and FDOT design software programs.
  • Proficiency with StormWise (formerly ICPR4) hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
  • Experience preparing engineering reports.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.

Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with FDOT drainage design standards.
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports and permitting documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Location: Orlando, FL (32814)
Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,000
Term of Assignment: Direct Hire
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
