Controls Professional Engineer

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with clients and engineering firms to gather design requirements and understand limiting conditions.
• Review standard documentation, local and national codes, and industry requirements for design parameters and constraints.
• Provide input to clients regarding system functionality and requirements.
• Conduct site visits to verify the accuracy of drawings and identify site obstacles and hazards.
• Work with Designers to create site plans, I/O lists, conduit, and cable schedules.
• Provide preliminary designs for installers and vendors to obtain cost estimates.
• Oversee Engineers-In-Training and Designers, certifying their drawings.
• Propose equipment solutions and evaluate vendors and requirements.
• Develop network topologies to determine network architecture, appropriate equipment, and interconnections.
• Design control panels, including equipment, power, enclosures, I/O checks, and drawings, in collaboration with Designers.
• Review control panel designs based on governing documents, manufacturer standards, and codes.
• Resolve conflicts with clients regarding safety requirements and change orders.
• Manage the design and post-design phases of 4 to 5 projects simultaneously.
• Sign and seal customer deliverables.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience designing control panels.
• Professional Engineering (PE) License is required.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline; or equivalent industrial controls experience.
• Proficiency in PLC programming using Allen Bradley RSLogix or other PLC software.
• Expert knowledge of PLC logic and controls, and working knowledge of HMIs.
• Experience with complex integrated systems.
• Advanced skills and knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, and Visio.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7 years of experience in automation and controls.

Job Details:

• Up to $140k per year.
• Shift and hours: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.
