A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Strategic Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
- Cloud Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure and solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Team Leadership: Hire, train, and mentor a team of cloud engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Cloud Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the cloud environment, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
- Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving measures within the cloud environment without compromising performance or security.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Innovation and Automation: Drive innovation in cloud technologies and processes, exploring new tools and techniques to improve efficiency and agility.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., IT, Product, Engineering) to understand their needs and ensure that cloud solutions meet their requirements.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security controls and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
- Budget Management: Manage the cloud engineering budget effectively, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value for money.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- Deep Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), virtualization, containerization, and DevOps practices.
- Strong Leadership and Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of engineers.
- Excellent Communication and Collaboration: Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term cloud strategies.
- Industry Certifications: Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect).
- Experience: Typically requires 8+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in cloud engineering or a related field.
- Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is often required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Salary: $150k-$210k (based on experience, education & internal parity)
