Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Manager Mission Assurance 1 located in Salt Lake City, UT.

What you'll get to do:
  • Responsible for daily operations of a team or work unit (direct supervision of the staff, assignment of work, schedules, day to day workflow, and operating costs)
  • Build and develop a diverse and inclusive team with high levels of engagement
  • Mentor and coach subordinates
  • Work closely with other team members such as engineering, global supply chain, test, integration, logistics, or manufacturing
  • Responsible for the compiling of data in support of the End Item Data Package and for the selloff activities including the final presentation to the customer.
  • Ensure that tasks are completed on time following established procedures and schedules
  • Corrective action review and reporting to include monitoring status of corrective and preventive actions and tracking through closure, reviewing/analyzing defect data, monitoring test problem report data and closure status, monitoring causal analysis and resolution
  • Champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business
  • Participate in Risk Management process and support team in identification of risks
  • Must be able to work on-site in Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Position is in Salt Lake City, Utah with travel to other Northrop Grumman sites, supplier sites, or customer sites as required


The Manager Mission Assurance 1 will be responsible for defining and monitoring mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, and selloff of deliverable hardware are in accordance with contractual requirements. Assesses program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, Production/Manufacturing, Mission Assurance and/or Quality Assurance; Master's Degree with 3 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, Production/Manufacturing, Mission Assurance and/or Quality Assurance; or 9 years of continuous professional/military experience in lieu of degree in Engineering, Production/Manufacturing, Mission Assurance and/or Quality Assurance.
  • Experience in any combination of Systems Engineering, Integration, Test, Quality, or other engineering disciplines accompanied by high proficiency in technical problem solving to include root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret DOD clearance.
  • Must have the ability to travel up to 10% domestically.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a team environment and collaborate across the organization as required to accomplish the team goals
  • Experience working with staffing, quality engineering metrics and training resources, processes, and tools
  • Experience with work operations of exempt and/or non-exempt employees daily and actively assists or provides direction to subordinates using established policies, procedures, and practices
  • Experience as an effective collaborator, communicator, and problem solver able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven technical management experience preferably in either program IPT, R&D or Advanced Systems, technology, and/ or functional environments
  • ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 trained auditor
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Agile Methodologies
  • Experience with AS9102, AS9145 and AS6500
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with Excel
  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance
  • Aerospace and Defense Industry experience
  • Previous experience in People and Technical Leadership roles.


Salary Range: $101,900.00 - $152,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
