Exciting Opportunity: Director of Space Systems - Join a Revolutionary Company and Help Build the First Commercial GPS System in Space

We are working with an innovative company developing the next-generation GPS service to enhance performance, security, and reliability. Their mission is to create a GPS solution that's more accurate, faster, and resistant to spoofing and jamming. They aim to disrupt the $260B GNSS market and enable applications like drone delivery, self-driving cars, and urban air mobility.

They are now seeking a Principal level Engineer who would be the lead of their Space Systems team, heading up the development of their cutting-edge satellite system.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Build a Team: Attract, recruit, and manage a top-tier space systems engineering team.
  • Drive Satellite Development: Oversee the full lifecycle of LEO PNT satellite development, from design to deployment.
  • System Architecture: Lead design trades, integration, and mission operations.
  • Supply Chain Leadership: Manage partnerships with spacecraft and component suppliers.
  • Ensure Scalability: Develop strategies for mass production of cost-effective, reliable satellites.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with internal teams, external partners, and government stakeholders.
  • Foster a Results-Oriented Culture: Implement test methodologies and performance frameworks to continuously improve systems.


Requirements:

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering (M.S./Ph.D. preferred).
  • 10+ years in satellite systems development, including leadership roles.
  • Hands-on experience in satellite design, manufacturing, integration, testing, and operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and scale engineering teams.
  • Strong decision-making skills for satellite subsystem design.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage timelines.


Preferred:

  • Experience in fast-paced startups and space technology.
  • Hands-on experience with GNSS, RF payloads, or PNT technologies.
  • Familiarity with DoD, NASA, or commercial spaceflight standards.
