The 200,000-square-foot, three-story facility will offer a range of essential healthcare services including an Emergency Department, Diagnostic Imaging Services, 34 Medical/Surgical beds, 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds and 4 Operating Rooms. Overview
The Director of Nursing has the responsibility for setting strategy for the provision of nursing service. This includes facility-wide decision making, goal and objective setting, policy establishment, foresight into nursing service and setting the communication tone, values and culture of nursing services. This role has operational oversight for community Hospital Surgical Services to include Operating Room, Pre-Op, Post-Op, Surgical Sterilization for inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures. The role may also have oversight of surgery center in geographic region as well.

Overview
The Director of Nursing has the responsibility for setting strategy for the provision of nursing service. What you will do
- Responsible for the annual budget process to include appropriate resource allocations for FTE's, skill mix, replacement, succession planning, capital expenditures, and expenses. Completes variance review, analysis and action plans for budget objectives.
- Analyzes financial statements, reconciles variances. Develops business plans and provides cost benefit analysis to manage financial resources. Read and interpret benchmarking and financial data. Educates patient care team on financial implications of patient care decisions. Evaluates and implements capital acquisitions for assigned area as approved including development of system purchases, cost analysis, oversight alignment with strategic and goals. Conducts SWOT and gap analysis for program planning. Demonstrates awareness of societal and technological trends, issues and new developments as they apply to surgical services. Participation in surgical services VAT.
- Collaborates with Facility Administrator, Leaders and Surgeons to develop ongoing strategic vision for department/service that promotes growth and excellence. Emphasizes the need to deliver quality services defines standards for quality and patient satsifaction within area(s) of responsibility and evaluates processes against those standards in an effort to improve performance.
- Applies principles of shared decision making processes. Cultivates an environment which recognizes and values differences in staff, patients and communities. Resolves and manages conflict. Cultivates collaborative relationships with entire team. Creates an environment of personal ownership in patient/customer care. Demonstrates ability to organize, manage and develop teams that attract, train and retain the best.
- Working knowledge of patient care standards as published by DNV, CMS and professional nursing literature. Demonstrate knowledge of patient care delivery model and work design. Applies knowledge to optimize delivery of care improving efficiency and outcomes. Participates in strategic planning and quality initiatives. Identifies opportunities to improve service and patient care outcomes through the interpretation and application of regulatory and accreditation standards and results of patient satisfaction measures. Facilitates Quality and Risk Management initiatives to develop and measure the effectiveness of patient safety and patient satisfaction. Continuously improves the delivery and outcomes of comprehensive, quality, personalized care in accordance with patient safety standards, standards of excellence and the Riverside Code of Conduct.
- Stays ahead of Surgical Services industry trends and ensures ongoing compliance with current and new regulatory standards. Leads the development, maintenance, and systemization of policies, job aides, and clinical services for areas of responsibility.
- Continuously improve the delivery and outcomes of comprehensive, quality, personalized patient experience and in accordance with patient safety standards. Collaboration with leaders to identify opportunities and barriers for quality and service.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Required) and
- Masters Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
Experience
- 2 years Surgical Services Experience as RN and/or Surgical Tech (Required)
- 1 year Supervisory experience (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in acompact state Upon Hire(Required) and
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required) and
- ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Preferred)
