You will work in a fast moving environment to solve business problems as a member of cross-functional team embedded within a business unit. You will be expected to apply optimization methodologies and ML models to large data sets, address optimization problems, and contribute to the design of automated systems around the company. We are seeking an experienced research scientist. Candidate will be responsible for developing solutions to better manage/optimize the inbound and outbound backlogs in Amazon's network world wide. This position requires superior analytical thinkers, able to quickly approach large ambiguous problems and apply their technical knowledge to identify opportunities for further research. You should be able to independently mine and analyze data, and be able to use any necessary programming and statistical analysis software to do so. Successful candidates must thrive in fast-paced environments which encourage collaborative and creative problem solving, be able to measure and estimate risks, constructively critique peer research, and align research focuses with the Amazon's strategic needs.

QuBIT Science (Midas team) is revolutionizing data-driven decision-making across Amazon's operations. We specialize in delivering swift, scientifically rigorous solutions that often fall outside the immediate scope of larger central science organizations.
We are seeking an experienced research scientist. Candidate will be responsible for developing solutions to better manage/optimize the inbound and outbound backlogs in Amazon's network world wide.
The successful applicant will be passionate about executing end-to-end science projects, applying advanced scientific methods to operational data to solve complex business challenges. This role offers a unique opportunity to directly impact Amazon's operational efficiency through optimization modelling.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products
- Master's degree or above in operations research, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, or equivalent
- Experience in machine learning, statistics, and deep learning
- Knowledge of machine learning processing: computer vision, NLU, NLP or operations research
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in operations research, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, or equivalent
- Experience in quantitative field research
- Experience with various machine learning techniques and parameters that affect their performance

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
