The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology in partnership with Alberta Health Services invites applications for a clinical locum physician with training in renal transplantation to be based at the University of Alberta with start date July 1, 2025. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world's top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada's premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.

The renal transplant program serves 1600 prevalent patients in the Alberta Kidney Care-North catchment area and performs 120 kidney transplants on average per year. The kidney transplant physician group is composed of 7 transplant nephrologists who provide both inpatient and outpatient care for kidney transplant recipients with some also having general nephrology/dialysis responsibilities.

Clinical services would include inpatient kidney transplant service, inpatient nephrology and consult service, and outpatient service in kidney transplantation and general nephrology including dialysis.

In addition, participation in nephrology transplant multidisciplinary rounds, kidney transplant quality assurance initiatives, Divisional academic rounds, and learner teaching would be expected.

Remuneration will be fee for service as per the Alberta Health Schedule of Medical Benefits (SOMB).

The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
