General Summary:

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a motivated entry level System Performance Engineer to join our team in San Diego. As a member of the System Performance Team, you will be responsible for validating and optimizing the performance, power, and thermal KPIs for a wide variety of Qualcomm products (Mobile Handset, Compute, Auto, etc.). You will work collaboratively across multiple teams (e.g., IP design and verification, Process, SW, Product management) to achieve industry-leading performance, power, and thermal targets. You will develop and deploy methodologies and tools to profile, optimize, and validate use cases and data flows, correlate PPT KPI with projection targets, drive triage of complex problems at the system level, and perform root cause analysis on internal Pre-Si or silicon platforms and on customer platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
Profile, characterize, and analyze SOCs in terms of performance, power, and thermal across multiple workloads involving CPU, GPU, AI engine, DDR Memory Controller HW blocks, including industry standard benchmarks
Identify bottlenecks for performance and power. Correlate Silicon results with modeling projections and root-cause the source of discrepancies
Conduct thermal analysis across workloads on Mobile SoCs. Characterize the impact of leakage and Dynamic power to performance within a constrained form-factor
Identify areas of performance optimization in the SoC in both Software and Hardware architectures
Use profilers and other tools to analyze and optimize system performance, leverage scripting languages (e.g. Python etc.)
Write complex technical documentation

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience

OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience
Strong background in Systems Engineering
Understanding of Computer Architecture
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Computer Architecture concepts such as CPU, GPU, DSP, interconnects, memory controllers, MMUs, etc.
Experience working on any ARM based platforms, mobile operating systems and/or performance profiling tools and benchmarking
Knowledge of High level OS performance analysis framework, task scheduler
Working knowledge of power distribution networks and power management
Experience with thermal management for high-performance mobile handset, compute, and auto products

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$99,400.00 - $149,200.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
