Location: Louisville, KY 40243 (+ Travel to various sites within the U.S.)

Overview:
We are seeking a Welding Training & Compliance Manager (Process Weld Manager) to oversee welding training, audits, and certification processes for a leading company in the industrial field. This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity to take ownership of welding standards and training for field service personnel.

Position Summary:
The Process Weld Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing welding training programs, ensuring adherence to AWS standards, and conducting audits of welding processes in the field. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of leadership experience in welding, construction, or maintenance, with particular expertise in welding certification, procedures, and field application. A strong background in welding for old, in-the-field equipment is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welding Training Development & Execution: Create and manage welding training programs, including MIG, Stick, 3G, 4G, 6G, Sub-Arc, Plasma Cutting, Arc-Gouging, Stainless Steel, and Exotic Metals. Focus on safety and practical application in the field.
  • Certifications: Ensure the proper certification of field welding personnel in accordance with AWS D1.1 code and other relevant standards.
  • Audit & Compliance: Regularly audit welding processes and procedures to maintain safety, quality, and efficiency in welding operations.
  • Field Welding Experience: Assist and guide welding teams in overcoming challenges related to dissimilar materials, degraded surfaces, working at heights, welding out of position, and optimizing conditions for safe operations in the field.
  • Safety & Procedure Adherence: Champion world-class safety protocols in all welding operations.

Required Experience and Skills:
  • At least 5 years of experience in welding, field service, or a related construction/maintenance role with focus on welding procedures and certifications.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with MIG, Stick, 3G, 4G, 6G, Sub-Arc, Plasma Cutting, Arc-Gouging, Stainless Steel, and Exotic Metals welding in the field.
  • Strong understanding of AWS D1.1 code and experience with welding on complex or aged equipment in outdoor environments.
  • Certification in welding (required) and experience managing or auditing welding certifications.
  • Prior experience with safety programs and welding audits is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Pressure Vessels and welding safety programs.
  • Previous work in industries involving rotary machinery and/or industrial equipment maintenance is highly preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Travel: up to ~ 50% travel required to job sites in locations including Sioux City, IA, Texas City, TX, Fort Payne, AL, Murray, UT, Irmo, SC, and Louisville, KY.
  • Hours: M-F, 8 AM - 5 PM (flexible hours possible to accommodate personal needs).
  • Work Environment: Business casual attire.
  • Overtime: Not expected, but may be required occasionally.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Hourly Pay Range (while on contract): $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
  • Combat Pay: $100/day for travel (paid as a lump sum upon direct hire).
  • Direct Hire Compensation: Base salary of $70K - $80K, plus a 2-5% quarterly bonus, and additional combat pay (up to $26K/year), bringing total potential compensation to $109K - $122K annually.
  • Per Diem & Travel Expenses: Fully covered while on travel.

  • Feedback Timeline: 24-48 hours post-interview.
