BAE Systems has an exciting opportunity for an experienced program management leader to lead a factory transition project from our Wayne NJ site to our Fort Wayne IN manufacturing hub. As the Dir I- Strategic Ops, reporting directly to the Deputy Vice President of Operations, this role oversees the management of the factory transition and business continuity, mitigating disruptions to production execution and business performance. This role is also tasked with the opportunity to create a best-in-class transition and move process. This role will be based at our factory in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to ensure successful project transition, meeting budget and schedule requirements.
  • Communicate project requirements, objectives, and expectations to internal teams and subcontractors, ensuring everyone is aligned and working towards common goals.
  • Oversee the transition project, coordinating efforts across facilities, capital equipment, and product transfers to ensure a seamless execution.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, risk assessments, and resource allocation to ensure project delivery.
  • Foster a high-performing team through effective leadership, motivation, and influence, promoting collaboration and teamwork across the transition team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management, to ensure successful project execution and resolve issues promptly.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans and escalating issues as needed to ensure minimal impact on budget and schedule.
  • Provide transparent and timely communication to stakeholders, ensuring everyone is informed of project status, deadlines, assignments, and objectives.
  • Present project updates, milestones, and performance metrics to senior leadership and stakeholders, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
  • Identify and document program progress, including implementation, timelines, issues, risks, and quality metrics, to inform future project planning and improvement.
  • Support talent development and knowledge transfer initiatives, ensuring the transition team has the necessary skills and expertise to deliver the project successfully.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality, identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Resolve conflicts, prioritize demands, and manage competing stakeholder expectations to ensure project success and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.
  • Provide holistic leadership, promote a positive culture, and ensure an environment of collaboration, and respect in alignment with the company's behaviors and cultural principles.

Required Skills and Education

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, supply chain logistics, and quality management systems
  • Ability to understand the big picture as well as technical, budget and schedule issues at the detail level.
  • Comfortable and competent with MS Office computer tools including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers; ability to translate complex topics, convince, and inspire through the written and spoken word.
  • Ability to gain internal support, operate independently with limited supervision and feedback, and establish a solid working relationship with senior management, technical staff, and peers within the sector.
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as required.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 12 years' experience leading program, operations or supply chain teams.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and PMP certification preferred.
  • Experience in Lean Six-Sigma and continuous improvement background preferred.
