Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Lawyer Recruiting Manager in Houston. This position performs works in conjunction with other members of Lawyer Recruiting and Development to oversee lawyer recruitment, lawyer services, diversity-related initiatives and professional development for designated offices and/or teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Oversees Houston summer programs including ensuring evaluation deadlines are met and mid summer and exit interviews are performed, budgets are met, reports any issues raised in evaluations. Makes sure summer associate reminders of necessary procedures regarding their departure from the firm and that information is collected for wrap-up from summer associates before they depart.
2. Manages and oversees all aspects of the Summer Associate program in accordance with firm-wide policies and practices. Oversees review and assessment of previous summer functions, budgetary restrictions, lawyer participation, and timing restrictions and collaborates with Hiring Partner and Recruiting Committee in determining the content and schedule of upcoming summer events. Oversees summer event coordination. Oversees coordination of summer associate administrative support including office space.
3. Oversees processes for compiling Summer Associate feedback regarding the summer program and distributing to the Hiring Partner. Oversees compilation of written feedback of summer associate work for use in formal evaluations of summer associate performance. Provides input and coordinates the approval of associate offers and the follow-up with the candidates receiving offers. Maintains communication with former summer associates to obtain information regarding their choice of employment. Keeps detailed records regarding the same.
4. Supervises supporting Lawyer Recruiting staff and ensures that they are trained in their areas of responsibility.
5. Implements recruiting and retention initiatives designed to further the firm's diversity goals. Participates in and performs various responsibilities related to the firm's diversity-related initiatives, committees and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects or processes required, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • Other Qualifications: Travel may be required. Availability and willingness to work hours as needed to meet critical deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork. Must possess the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism. Must act as catalyst for change, drive and own results. Creative and innovative. Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening) and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals. Sound judgment and flexibility. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed to process and read extensive written communications. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory.
