Commodities Compliance Officer

Balyasny Asset Management is seeking an experienced Commodities Compliance Officer for its Denmark office, either in Aalborg or Copenhagen.

In the role of Commodities Compliance Officer, the employee will be responsible for the following:

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all compliance requirements relating to the firm's European physical natural gas and power business
• Provide counsel to staff in relation to day-to-day compliance-related questions
• Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure European gas and power trading activities remain in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
• Enforce compliance policies as it applies to the firm's business on a day-to-day basis
• Monitor regulatory developments and stay ahead of them to update compliance policies and procedures as required
• Implement and enhance existing compliance training programs
• Review surveillance output and enhance existing surveillance systems and protocol
• Keep track of industry leading compliance practices and adopt and implement such practices to continually enhance the firm's compliance program
• Escalate matters to the global Compliance leaders and the regional Business leaders as necessary

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree required
• 3+ years of physical European gas and power compliance experience
• Strong understanding of REMIT, MiFID II, EMIR, MAR, and similar UK/EU regulations
• Well-versed in the rulebooks of the EEX, EPEX Spot, ICE Endex/EU, and Nordpool exchanges
• Familiarity with terms and conditions of European TSOs
• High standard of professionalism in all dealings with internal staff and any external partners
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment that is continuously growing
• Must be highly collaborative and possess excellent writing, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational and research skills
• Outstanding attention to detail
