SAP Application Development Architect
We are seeking an experienced professional who will serve as overall SAP Application Development Service Architect for our SAP S/4 implementation in regards to supporting application development with applications such as HR, Finance, and Supply Chain systems. This Advisor role will be accountable for maintaining the service and governance frameworks for the overall application development processes (SDLC) and maintaining integration solutions to meet the information technology and business requirements for Lilly's SAP S/4 environment. Through collaboration across business process and technical teams, you will ensure that there are consistent efficient and durable system-to-system development practices based on best practices to ensure desired business outcomes are achieved. You will partner with our support teams to ensure proper service turnup and handover.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$135,000 - $213,400
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). SAP Application Development Architect

How You'll Succeed:
- Champion AppDev Strategy, innovation (including reviewing AI tools and initiatives), improvements.
- Promoting innovation in AppDev - BTP, AI/ML code generation, new tools
- Provide oversight of BTP governance including processes, procedures and validation.
- Champion enterprise architecture - what tools to use for solutions, including ABAP, BTP, integrations
- Developing AI literacy programs across development teams
- Enthusiasm to Ownership and updating ERP Services Application Development (AppDev) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide guidance and improvements of application development with established tools for scanning code for security vulnerabilities, development best practices. Drive resolution of findings.
- Ownership of training curriculum for application developers in the ERP Services area.
- Champion adherence to Lilly's Software Defined Life Cycle framework for code developers.
- Answering Application Development process questions, including technical expectations of code reviews, design specs, component specs, Unit Test Plans (UTPs), extended code review process
- Supporting SAP releases (IIT, FIT, defects, cutover, transport verification, AppDev manual config, OV)
- Project support; review and technical approval of Design Specs
- Review and consult on application development work orders
- Work with third parties to discuss problem developers, delayed projects, missed timelines
- Attend conferences (e.g., SAP, BTP) as needed; talking to other SAP customers, working with Lilly partners, SAP Max Attention.
- Leading teams in resolving deeply technical AppDev related issues
- Participating in internal and external audits of ERP Services processes
- Coaching/mentoring
What You Should Bring:
- Deep technical skills and experience in SAP ABAP and working understanding of "Full Stack" development
- Ability to manage and upskill other developers and have fluency in standard data formats and API standards such as REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, YAML, delimited files, among others
- Knowledge or experience in service oversight and management of an application development resource pool and support service.
- Ability to apply the concepts of SAP learning into real-time project/Customer business requirements.
- Cloud concepts and understanding
- Using AI agents for routine tasks like handling code inquiries, producing initial code drafts, and converting design ideas into prototypes
- 3+ years of experience in the design and development of integration solutions within SAP preferred.
- Hands-on experience of SAP Cloud Platform - API management for end-to-end lifecycle from design, development, mask, publish and test to deploy.
- Application Development certifications
- Knowledge of Java is a plus
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant degree + 10 years ABAP experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in the design, development, and implementation of various enterprise integration solutions (API's & Cloud Hubs) of complex SAP and Non-SAP landscapes.
- Experience using various tools such as SAP cloud connector, SAP cloud platform Integration (CPI), among other API integration management tools.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience designing and developing integrations/applications in the context of SAP FICO, Human Resources, and Supply Chain.
Additional Information:
- Minimal US & OUS travel required (0-10%).
