About this position

We are looking for a dynamic, strategic, and communicative External Relations Sr. Specialist/ Specialist. As an External Relations Sr. Specialist/Specialist, you will support the External Affairs Group Head and the External Affairs and Communications Manager in managing and enhancing relationships with key stakeholders, including member countries, international organizations, and other partners.

You will work in the External Relations Team as part of the Office of the President. This team is responsible for strengthening the IDB's visibility and influence in the international development community, fostering strategic relationships, and ensuring effective communication of the IDB's initiatives and achievements.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, international organizations, and private sector partners.
  • Craft and disseminate messages that effectively communicate the IDB's goals, initiatives, and successes.
  • Organize high-level meetings and conferences involving the President and other senior IDB officials.
  • Provide strategic support to the Senior management (EXC and EXA) on external relations and communication strategies.
  • Prepare reports and briefings for the Senior management (EXC and EXA) on external relations, activities, meetings, and other outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (EXC and EXA) to align external communication strategies with the IDB's mission and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Global Partnership department to align external strategies with the different partnerships related to IDB's mission and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze external developments that may impact the IDB's external relations strategy.


What you'll need
Education: Master degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in International Relations, Public Policy, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: Sr. Specialist at least 5 years of progressive experience / Specialist at least 4 years of of progressive experience in external relations, public affairs, or a related field, preferably with knowledge in Latin America and the functioning of political institutions
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements
Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
